Tbf, Heller just gave the right to have a gun at home for self-defense. It specifically said that the type of weapon, as well as carry permits etc., could be regulated.

This year, SCOTUS will clear the way for unrestricted carry permits.

He made up out of whole cloth a new accepted meaning for term "bear arms" than has no historical precedent ever in recorded language until his Heller Opinion and used it to pretty much throw out the "well regulated militia" portion of the 2nd amendment.

You must have really hated Roe v. Wade.

The right to privacy was not invented for Roe.

He must think mandatory vasectomies are cool, too.

We literally give billions of dollars to other countries. Why aren’t there multiple highly paid (former military) security guard positions at every school in America ? Are there any republicans or democrats against that ? Gun law reform will help to an extent but the priority first and foremost has to be full scale upgrades to the protection of our children/teachers.

Dude fired outside of the school for 12 minutes before entering. Unreal. So much for the cops being of any use.

Parkland had an armed full time SRO on site. He stayed outside and did nothing.

however, if you want to go down that route, NRA dues should pay for it.

I have all the respect of the world for the bravery cops have in order to do their jobs every day. And maybe a cop outside a school will prevent a shooting every once in a while. But between this and the retired police officer-turned-security guard with a gun that got killed in Buffalo (because the shooter was wearing body armor), this shows that it isn't nearly enough of a solution.

I mean, both these monsters had so many red flags before they purchased their weapons. Something has to change.

And let's be very blunt about what's going on: Politicians are taking legal bribes that are deemed "free speech" from the NRA, and that's why they don't do jack about it. This is blood money they're taking, and they love it. And the more these shootings happen, the more they get paid.

Sure, finance it with a tax on guns and ammunition and I’m all for it.

Two fallacies these last two weeks have obliterated. The good guy with a gun argument and arming teachers. If 100 cops can’t do a thing, how is the English professor supposed to?

this is why I believe we need multiple former military trained guards hired for each school. Not teachers. Not just one SRO. These positions need to be added with the sole purpose of exterior protection. Schools in my area have the same SRO for the middle & high schools. Its unacceptable. Who would be against throwing as much money as needed to beef up all measures of school security ?
