    2021 LV Raiders

Very exciting, but expensive win over the Ravens. Cost them Denzelle Good(out for season), McCoy (out for season) and Mariotta (on IR with quad strain. Carr threw for 435 yds. Waller wsas quite studley---10 catches for 105yds. Josh Jacobs nursing a toe injury had a nice TD run. Renfrow was clutch, as usual. And ruggs and Edwards made it to the party late in the game. Edwards was a one man show at the end of the game getting LV in position for the tying FG with 20 seconds left, then geting them down to the 1 in OT. After each team turned it over, Carr to Zay Jones won it.

Huge win yesterday vs Steelers, 26-17, and could have been more with 1 TD called back. This win was way more impressive than beating the Ravens. They go into Pittsburgh as a 6 point dog and totally control the game, with an offensive line beset by injuries and no running game with Josh Jacobs out. They put up 425 yds total offense against the leagues top defense, with Carr throwing for 382 yards, 2TDs, 0 Int. Steelers sold out on stopping Waller, but really couldnt even do that. Carr spread the ball around using Waller as a decoy early, but he still caught 5 passes for 65 yards. On the most memorable play of the game, Carr deked Pitts safety by eying Waller before hitting Ruggs who beat his corner on a post for a 61 yd fourth quarter TD that answered a Pitt TD that had cut the score to 16-14, and effectively broke their back. Ruggs finished with 113 yards on 5 receptions. Renfrow, Drake, Moreau, Carrier and Edwards also had good games. Snead snared a key 3rd and long pass that gave LV a new set of 4th quarter downs, atoning for his big miss last week.

The defense was also very good. They held Pittsburgh to 331 total yards, with only 39 yards rushing. The pass rush was also very effective. They sacked Rothlisberger twice, picked him once and hit him multiple times.

They head back home at 2-0, having beaten 2 very good AFC playoff teams. Next up Miami, who are coming off a 35-0 skunking by Buff. The line is LV as a 5.5 point favorite. Hopefully they get Jacobs and Incognito back for the game.

The Raiders are 3-0, but they're still plagued by making too many mistakes and boneheaded decisions by Gruden.

I really didnt understand that going for it on 4th and 1 on their own 35 against Miami. Against KC OK, but not against Miami. A very ugly win. They handed Miami all 3 of their TDs. This is a game they would have lost last year. This is a much better team than last year. Ruggs and Edwards have answered the bell. Ruggs is running much better routes and is on a pace to gain 1300 yards. Edwards, who I believe will be better than Ruggs, is on a pace for over 1200 yards. And Renfro has been incredibly productive and clutch. Carr is averaging over 400 yards per game. They are the leagues number 1 offense and this is without Jacobs. Their D is much better as well, currently #14. What a great pick Hobbs looks to be. 5th round. PFF graded him as the league's best non-1st round rookie in training camp and again through the first 2 weeks. Im thinking 12-13 wins is not out of the question. I was initially thinking they lose to Chicage and Indy, but it doesnt look that way now.

        3-0.

Next victim is SD on Monday night. Game in LA. Prolly have a lot more Raider fans there than SD fans.

I love what he brings to the team. He 's going to be the Raiders #1 receiver.

Very bad loss vs SD. Game plan and O-line in 1st half was horrible. Especially last drive where they ran 3 times and out and gave ball back with 2.5 minutes left and SD went in for the TD making it 21-0. Carr cut it to 21-14 to start 4th quarter and were deep in SD territory for a tying TD, but the drive stalled and Carlson missed a 54 yd FG, which gave SD a start on the 44 yard line. They scored to make it 28-14, which was the final score. This doing nothing ion the first half is becoming a habit. Wish they would play a full 60 minutes. They also lost 2 cornerbacks, Mullen and Arnette, to injury. They should be all over acquiring the Gilmore girl from New England. That would be fantastic to pair him with Hayward on the other side and Hobbs as the slot corner.

Carr finished with 200 yards passing after his CocaCola (net zero) passing yardage in the first half, so again a 400 yd pace once they fixed the game plan in the second half. Best play of the game was by Renfro. On a fake punt the Raiders special teams had left a SD cover player with no coverage and the SD punter completed a pass to him on the left sideline. Renfro, who was back to receive the punt saw the blown coverage and came racing up and snuffed it out with a textbook tackle for a short gain, but no 1st down.

Ruggs had a good game. He caught a 60 yd pass. He also beat his man deep on another play and drew a PI for another huge gain. On a third deep route, he again beat his man, but Carr overthrew the ball.

The D wasn't bad despite the score. They had numerous stops. The problem is that the O kept going 3 and out all day long, giving SD too good field position and too many possessions. They held Herbert to 202 yards, this despite losing their starting corner and his replacement. Ekeler did get big yardage but a chunk of that came late after the game was decided. 370 total yards to that offense given too many possessions wasnt bad. The absolute killer though was SD 3rd TD at the end of the first half that made it 21-0. Pathetic play calling, pathetic Oline play gave SD that possession. Got to give the Raiders credit for getting off the mat and making a game of it going for the tying TD deep in SD territory before stalling.

Next four games Raiders should be favored -- Chi, @Dev, Phi, bye, @NYG. They need to shake this one off and take care of business before they play KC. Play 2 halves, not 1. And get the Gilmore girl.

The Raiders are a mediocre team at best with an overrated HC. They're not going anywhere as now their HC is a major distraction.

Well they cleaned house. That should make you happy.

Understandable why the offense played like crap yesterday. On the bright side the defense played well. Many 3 and outs and 1 of the Tds came courtesy of 3 personal fouls on that drive. Should have held them to 10 points.

Sounds like Mark Davis wanted Gruden out. Apparently these new emails were from Gruden to Davis, so Davis must have released them.

I'm very happy that Gruden is gone, but they haven't cleaned house yet. That needs to happen and then hire some competent people that can actually turned this once very successful football team around.

Now release all the documents in this Washington investigation. Gruden can't be the only one caught up in it.

It's kind of crazy that he was more or less collateral damage in this - that he wasn't even part of the Washington organization.

But, yeah, it does seem like he's being singled out here. I have no problem with him taking the hit, but it does make you wonder who else was involved. I'm guessing the NFL doesn't want us to learn the extent of this crap.

Yeah, I'm sure they don't, but that shouldn't be up to them.

This Is Who Jon Gruden Always Was

Gruden is out as the Las Vegas head coach after a report detailed his history of making racist, sexist, and homophobic comments. But the questions about his emails don’t end there—for both the Raiders and the league as a whole.

Yes - good article. It's not only about Gruden - he clearly wouldn't have been saying those things out loud if he didn't feel it was safe to say them. As the article points out, this should put more focus on the lack of representation among head coaches and GMs.

It's been an issue for a long time. Since before the Rooney rule but it hasn't really gotten better

Out of the six head coaches hired, only one, Robert Saleh, is a minority. People of color represent 69% of NFL players and 35% of assistant coaches. But yet, only two head coaches are Black men. Fritz Pollard Alliance executive director Rod Graves said this week the disparity is unconscionable. - January 2021
