But then I am not sure about the draft. Maybe there will still be a 1/15 signing date in 2023, and then they will have a draft later in 2023?

This whole situation is so confusing to me. I think all of this is due to the shifting of the signing date forward from 7/2 to 1/15. I do not see them going back to a 7/2. That uncertainty is what the discussion of the timing of Mayea's signing eligibility is all about.
This is why I believe we will remain under the LT. I’m pretty sure the draft is coming and this may be the last shot to capitalize on Ifas

Also mentioned that Arias is still looking to sign with us but reports are it will be around 4 mill. Yanks also in on a Cuban CF prospect Brandon Mayea but some feel both will be hard to pull off. Yanks also have strong commitments for another few guy listed in top 50.
Whatís the skinny on Mayea? Iím just hearing about him for the first time here

Some rate him as the number 2 possible prospect in the IFA class. He will be hard to sign. So far off now with January date. Small market teams have a lot more IFA money. If Yanks go over the cap this season they will loose IFA money as well.

Well the top 20 ( By Expected bonus) List is out for IFA's. As we have heard the number 2 guy is Roderick Arias and is at this time looking like he'll sign with the Yankees. The #6 player Diego Benitez who was rumored at one time to also be tied to us, is now rumored to be Atlanta bound...

FWIW I was told by a fellow R/Rider friend that Sanchez and Colas have not signed yet and may be waiting on Yankees still. I'm sure money is the issue.

would anyone care to explain to me or post a link:

how much the Yanks can spend this signing season and how does their budget compare with other teams' budgets?

How come the Yankees are so low in the amount of money to spend? Is it because of their payroll in 2020?

It's due to signing Gerrit Cole, as he was given a qualifying offer from the Astros and the Yankees paid luxury tax in 2019. So the Yankees were dinged 1 million dollars from their IFA pool.

Thanks for that info folks. Very much appreciated.

Do you think there will be a international draft under a new CBA? How do both sides feel about it now?
