He's just half month older than Volpe. He's not ready but the Yankees better protect him in Rule 5.

That game is still live and in the middle of the 9th - do you see what just happened?

Hudson Valley went into the 9th up 9-4.

They proceeded to hit FIVE home runs in the inning, including two grand slams (one by Pereira), send 18 men to the plate, and score 14 runs. In the ninth inning. By itself.

They currently lead 23-4 and have hit 10 HR as a team.

After six (6) games of watching Anthony Volpe, the part of his game that most sticks out is the way he controls at-bats. No matter the count, he doesn’t leave his approach. He spits on close pitches with two strikes, and gets himself back into counts until he gets *his* pitch.

There's so many guys that need to be protected this year. I don't blame cashman for trading away so many guys this deadline. Most were rule 5 guys other than Smith. Does Breaux and Pereira are guys I would keep and add. I could see Sauer not being added and not taken either.

Pereira just hit another HR which is his 20th. He has also done it in less than 150 AB.

Can someone give a scouting report on the guy? Is this legit or can he turn into an elite prospect. He plays CF and is basically dominating high A.

I have seen him a bunch this year at HV...Strong build, Pretty solid I think listing him as 6ft is a bit much. Pretty solid approach with a quick swing. Could wait a bit more for his pitch but not an out of control free swinger. He has power for sure but hits a lot of line drives. He at this level can play CF gets good jumps but i think will be corner guy. I like him moving forward mostly because he seems to have a plan going to the plate and not just relying on raw talent.

It was on the first pitch of the game, too:
