I agree. Gil and Medina are a couple of guys who could wind up better than Deivi Garcia IMO. Exciting times may very well be ahead.

You're responding to what, 3 different people tell you that relentless negativity has made the forum less enjoyable? What's not to see? To me, it seems like many don't enjoy baseball the same anymore - even the wins seem to upset people. Imagine if the Yankees had had a losing season in the past 30 years.

We all know they are a flawed team, but these days flawed (but still talented) seems to mean worthy of constant sneering derision. It feels like a political argument rather than one about a sport for enjoyment (one we go to to escape politics for a minute). You can't win them all... but you CAN complain about them all. People obviously are free to do that, just not as fun to take part in.

All that said... cool about Glenn Otto. I'm assuming age 25 in AA means that he's a semi-longshot to be a real MLB starter, but 14Ks out of 16 outs / 19 total batters faced is intense.

Wow... The 14 Ks in 5.1 is insano, but perhaps the even better sign is the sole BB in those 5.1 IP. I haven't followed Otto too closely, but I think his big concern has always been control, right? That's a sick line regardless.

Another difference between then and now is that now there is a gang mentality where you must fit the negativity narrative and if you do not you are not taken seriously or you are a fan that just doesn't get it. But the biggest difference between that time period and the last 2-3 years is that back then you could freely challenge someone opinion while now you get scolded and threatened

Our frustration with what has happened to this forum has nothing to do with the front office.
Again I just don't see this at all, and this comes from someone that has backed Cashman and the FO from what I'd felt were unfair attacks for eons - although even my patience has basically worn out. I know you and I have had discussions on this before. I'm bummed that you feel like the forum is a lesser place of enjoyment for you than in years past. I disagree with you, and think the cause of the waning interest from some valued posters has a different root, but either way I hope your enjoyment level comes back and that it coincides with some good baseball from the team we all root for.

Is the inference that there were fewer posts that weren't positive on this forum in 2013 than now? 2014? 15? 16? I doubt it. In fact, I'm willing to bet especially early in that window it was actually far worse. I mean, you can go back and look but I assure you that in '16 there were few to no positive posts about Tex, Castro, Headley, Ells, A-Rod, Pineda, Eovaldi, Nova, etc. Certainly Girardi was getting dragged at the time. And the FO was not spared then either.

That certainly changed in '17. They had a new crop of young talent bust on the scene. They finally traded some elite rentals for chips to radically alter the outlook of the farm. They were not only getting into the playoffs but in spite of being underdogs they were competing with other elite teams. Then, they fired Girardi, hired Boone, had a strong '18 campaign that ended poorly in a 3-1 defeat in the ALDS to our hated rivals, had another strong '19 but lost in the ALCS, then COVID, and now... well, now there's 2021 and it hasn't been a very positive season and more importantly IMHO a very exciting season (at least in aggregate, although it does seem to be picking up).

I too notice the disappearance of some valued posters. My hypothesis however is that it is not because of some radical surge in the volume of negative posting. Any sports forum is going to have fans that are happy about a given topic at a given moment and some that are not. I would further opine that it is a reduction in volume of positive posting, and that is a byproduct of a team that has of late altered it's model and approach, that will not commit to the investment commensurate with the level of fan investment, that has shied away from true star talent (e.g. Harper, Machado, etc) and that seems to have had it's young, exciting core regress, get injured or get misused.

I think this frustration is being misplaced on the members of this community, and really should be directed to the FO.

Yes, I have noticed your posts at times, where you make an attempt to reduce the negativity. There are a couple of others who also rise above it. It seems hopeless though. And it is a shame. These Minors boards, for example, used to be so much more active. But several of the posters no longer post, or rarely do, because of what is going on with the Regular Season thread. Used to be the most negativity was in the Game Forum threads, nut now it has spread to almost everything here.

I am very sorry that this has happened. This was, at one time, a super enjoyable site to visit several times a day. Now? Not any longer. The enjoyment has gone away.

Just my opinion...................As far as the negativity regarding the batting order, the manager's moves, etc, - that's stuff that any sports message board will have, and while sometimes it seems overblown on this one, I would hope most posters are truly Yankees fans who care, and it's just an outpouring of emotion. Thru the first 2 weeks of the season, he has had one great week, and one relatively poor week. Combined? Sure, a solid season. And, as you noted, he added to it last night in the blowout win (that team can score runs)
