This must come straight from Hal.
All Hal cares about is staying under the LT threshold and how many buckets of chicken they sold last game.

Alcantara and Vizcaino, Cubs paying all of Rizzo's salary.
Sometimes I feel like my sell by date expired yesterday.

          From NJ.com

The Cubs will pay what’s remaining of Rizzo’s $16.5 million salary for this season, according to Curry. In exchange, Chicago will get a pair of prospects in righty Alexander Vizcaino and outfielder Kevin Alcantara. Vizcaino was on the Yankees’ 40-man roster.

            JFC Hal,
Spend the money, get some starting pitching. This is as weak as the AL has been in a long time. You're already $200M into this fiasco. Get a TOR starter and a reliever that has some clue where his fastball is going.
A fool and his money can throw one heck of a party!

Is the Yankees best team Gleyber on the bench?

Certainly, their best defensive team by far:

              Ursh SS (+2). Odor 2B (+7). DJL 3B (+0)

              Gley SS (-6) . DJL 2B (+1). Ursh 3B (+1)
              Calmer than you are

Sigh. Rizzo would be FA this year.

I would love to sell Gleyber right now. Enjoy the player, seems like a nice guy, but if they could make a Montero type trade featuring Gleyber I'd be all over it.

I'm so conflicted about all these moves. I would absolutely love what the Yankees are doing if I believe they're legit WS contender.

They definitely should trade Gleyber now. The signing of DJ in the off season and Gleyber's inability to maintain his offense or improve his SS defense makes that clear. Gleyber's performance is one of the main reasons they are performing below expectations this year. (I admit there are several others.)
I think Gleyber still has value, especially as a second baseman.

I wanted them to sign Corey Seager for his lefty power. But bidding against the Dodgers is iffy, and if they sign Rizzo, maybe they have that box checked. So they can get the better SS, Trea Turner to round out the IF. He will be in his walk year next year and the Nationals apparently are not negotiating an extension.

They're not. Nowhere close when you consider Cole has a 4.68ERA over his last 10 starts.

Not next year. He is gone, gone, gone, for sure. It should have been last year. But at least it will be next year.
