    Sox have Garland's back
It is a realization that Ken Williams knows is out there, but still wasn't ready to accept. Not yet. ''Well, there comes a point to it being you are what you are, and you have to at some point recognize what you are,'' the White Sox general manager said on Monday, hours before preparing to endure what could have been another page in a story gone very bad.

Just gotta hope Clippard looks like he did in his debut vs. the Mets. If that happens I have faith the Yankees will score some runs and win tonight. If not and he gets knocked out early it is going to be another long night.

Maybe the Yankee offense can wake up before the 9th inning.

If it's anyone besides Buehrle or Jenks, that's probably true.

I realize that this year may be different, but it seems to me that historically we handle Buehrle pretty well...

Over the last three years, he is 1-2 against us with a 10.39ERA...

18 runs, 15 earned on 19 hits in 13 innings pitched...

His career numbers against the Yankees...

1-4 with a 6.42 ERA in six starts.

I initially jumped at these numbers too...but my excitement has been tempered by the fact that we've never (well, in recent memory) had as much trouble hitting lefties as we've had this season...

Absolutely true... Which is exactly why I prefaced my statement and the stats with "I realize that this year may be different"...

That's due, in large part, to the struggles of our left handed hitters so far this season. Cano and Abreu seem to be turning a corner.

Absolutely true... And, one of our other struggling left-handers is on the DL with a bad foot...

Not that it's great, but 8 of those 18, 7 of the 15 and only 3 of the 13 came in one start last year, in the worst month in his entire career. His last start, he was just a notch below his no-hitter from earlier in the year.

I remember sitting through a two-hour rain delay before the start of 2004 game when Buehrle pitched against the Yanks and, IIRC, you guys scored 8 runs in the first.
