    Report: Beltran impressed by Yanks

    http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/ne..._mlb&fext=.jsp

Carlos Beltran is expected to make his decision within the next two weeks, and, based on some of his recent comments, the Yankees may have pulled into the lead to land the free agent outfielder.
    Things are looking good boys!
Welcome to Yankee Stadium where Mystique and Aura appear nightly :ga-ga:

    I'm curious:

How much would people here be willing to have the NYYs pay for CB?

Would you go to the Borassian extreme of 10 years/200 million?

    Subject deserves a poll..........

Gee...d'ya suppose Scotty Boras had anything to do with Beltran's comments?

OF COURSE he would love to play in NY.

If we get Carlos Beltran, Mariano will have a bunch of bloop hits taken away.

As for how much Beltrans worth, I would let the Yankees go for 7 yrs 17-18 mill, but not any more. I would be more willing to give 18 mill than give an 8th year. To me, an 8 year contract should be a big no-no. We're already stretching it with the 7 years, but thats what it will probably take to get him.

No, we are not the Rangers who bid against themselves.

          Beltre got 5 years / 65 millions.

Beltran should be given at most a Giambi Contract (7 years/120 millions)

It looks like he's gonna smash Vlad's deal.

            Sick.

Exactly. 7 years, 100 million is the absolute limit. I would NOT pay him $15+ per year. If anyone else wants to pay him more than that, go right ahead and take it.

I wouldn't want to pay him more than that either, but the reality is we'll probably need to get this guy. Houston has already reportedly upped their offer to 6/96.

I agree. 7 years, $105. or 6 years $96. Take it or leave it. If someone offers him more money, or more years, then let him walk.

The Yankees could have probably nabbed Vlad Guerrero last year, but that's behind us.

Beltran would be a good addition. I would start at 5 years for $75M, then offer options for the 6th and 7th years that vest when certain performance threshholds are met, like no. of plate appearances in the 4th and 5th years. I don't think there's a lot of competition out there -- maybe the Astros and Mets.

Except that if that team happens to be the Mets, there is zero chance that George concedes.

If Houston already offered him 7/96 why would he take 5/75? It's going to take over 100mil to land him period...
