Moderna Coronavirus Vaccine Shows 'Promising' Results In Producing 'Robust Immune Response'

Massachusetts-based biotech firm Moderna Inc. on Tuesday announced mRNA-1273, its candidate vaccine against COVID-19, had produced a “robust” immune response in all 45 patients involved in its Phase 1 human trials. In March, mRNA-1273 became the first candidate vaccine to enter a phase 1 human trial.
After the first vaccination, researchers saw antibody responses were higher with a higher dose. Serum-neutralizing activity was detected after the second vaccination. All 45 patients produced neutralizing antibodies, which is a type of protein needed to build immunity.

The vaccine elicited a “robust” immune after two vaccinations in all participants in all dose cohorts, according to Moderna. The company revealed the levels of neutralizing antibodies in volunteers in the high-dose group were four times higher than in recovered COVID-19 patients.
This looks really promising. I requested info on signing up for the phase 3 trial that's supposed to start at the end of this month.

The mocking potential on his retweeting Chuck Woolery is endless.

Chuck should go visit him and bring him some chicken soup since it’s no big deal.

I thought they were going to keep the testing, but lose all the data. Same thing, right?

Better. You can over pay friends than make the tests and then over pay firends to "manage the data". Win-Win.

Republican Governor of Mississippi Tate Reeves explains why "herd immunity" is not a realistic goal with simple math. Then recommends but doesn't order wearing masks.

Oh and Alabama of all states just ordered a mandatory mask order. Shout out to Kay Ivey (R)for doing the right thing. I wish more Governors would be proactive on this issue and not only after their state has become a hot bed of COVID activity.

The enforceability of a state-wide mandate is questionable, at best. A Governor can make a recommendation, but there's a process that needs to happen to make it a law.

In Colorado, Governor Jared Polis (who has done a great job with his response to the health crisis), has avoided a paper-thin statewide order, but has encouraged the individual towns and counties to do so. He's also expressed pretty massive frustration with people who are NOT wearing masks. He kinda sighed in a presser last week and said "Just wear the damn mask!"

I'm frustrated beyond words that we even NEED mandatory mask orders. It doesn't hurt you. It's AT WORST a minor inconvenience. No one is taking away your Constitutional Rights. If you happen to think the mask is ineffective, wear it anyway, as other people feel more comfortable if you're wearing it. You do it for other people, not for yourself. The refusal to wear a mask is foolish, selfish, and unreasonable. Like Polis said, "Just wear the damn mask!" Don't wait for a government agency to tell you to do it. Do it because it's the right thing to do.

They are not making law. Both state and local governments have very broad authority to issue orders during a public health emergency. Legal issues generally arise when they don't follow the proper process for the mandate but the authority is there. It's more than just a recommendation. How they go about enforcing it is a different problem and varies from state to state.
