Re: Covid-19
@albamonica
President Trump just now in the Rose Garden: "We're rounding the corner."
VP Pence moments earlier: "The American people should anticipate that cases will rise in the days ahead."
CDC Director Dr. Redfield to me Friday: "We're nowhere near the end."
And a radiologist, not Fauci, is asked by Trump to give the reassuring words

Maybe we can increase production of PPE and get more stimulus money, but a nationwide shutdown/quarantine or nationwide mask mandate is not realistic. Too many people have made up their minds on what is and is not risky/safe behavior to all suddenly pull in one direction, thanks in large part to the mixed messaging from our current leadership.Stay "We" my friends

And at this point, I have no idea how any president (new or incumbent) would even begin to bridge that divide. I think our only realistic options are to increase testing, increase PPE production/availability, encourage states to mandate masks/social distancing wherever possible and hope a vaccine is found sooner than later.Stay "We" my friends

Originally posted by Texsahara View PostI don't think we need a nationwide shutdown or quarantine but I don't think it's too late for a nationwide mandate. Even if it's not fully enforced, it can help. Most people are honest and law-abiding. Ramp up testing and contact tracing. More PPE for sure. I'd like to see free masks to anyone that needs one. Maybe have a dispenser at the door of every business? More education - public services commercials, signage, social meda ads, etc. Just pound away at it. Repetition works.Stay "We" my friends

I'm not worried so much about controlling the narrative as I am about half the country ignoring the message because of the color of the tie in the White House. That doesn't mean I don't want to see us attempt those things you listed.Stay "We" my friends

This is where I disagree. I don't believe it's half the country or even close to that. If it's even half the trump voters I'd be surprised. A consistent, national campaign will make a difference.
