I feel bad for his children who lost their dad but I'm having trouble finding sympathy for him.

Hospitals need to make sure the people working directly with COVID patients have immediate/priority access, but then just have a policy of getting the vaccine off the shelf and administered. People who are 70 or 80 years old should not be waiting for every primary care physician in the state to be vaccinated.

Anthony S. Fauci, the government’s top infectious-disease doctor, estimates that 80 to 85 percent of Americans need to be vaccinated to reach herd immunity. Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two doses. Eighty percent of the American population is around 264 million people, so we need to administer 528 million doses to achieve herd immunity.

At the current rate, it would take the United States approximately 10 years to reach that level of inoculation. That’s right — 10 years. Contrast that with the Trump administration’s rosy projections: Earlier this month, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar predicted that every American will be able to get the vaccine by the second quarter of 2021 (which would be the end of June). The speed needed to do that is 3.5 million vaccinations a day.

It's happening again. Might as well wave bye bye to getting back to normal in 2021. Well, everywhere else in the world will, but not us, the "greatest country on Earth".

The Federal Government has distributed the vaccines to the states. Now it is up to the states to administer. Get moving!

I read this last night. I feel terribly sad for his young children. He was only a year older than I.

I was vaccinated before my 69 and 72 year old parents, one of them diabetic. They both got covid a couple of weeks ago, but fortunately are OK. Neither has had to be hospitalized. They are so, so lucky. I'm quite certain that they got it from going to church. They thought everything would be fine because they wore masks there. I truly thought my diabetic dad would die from it. Oddly my mom, younger and not diabetic, has had it worse. Thankfully not bad enough for a hospital, though. I still worry it'll worsen for one or both of them, though they say they're on the mend.

He'll be gone in a few weeks. We can't undo the extreme damage he's done, sadly, but we should be on the way to a smarter and more efficient vaccination campaign. I'm no fan of the super capitalist Biden, but I'm confident he can do this effectively.

My pulmonologist just told me the roll-out at Columbia for doctors and nurses got so chaotic they just started letting them grab the vials out of the bins and take them. It was some kind of mad free-for-all.

It's not just him. States need money to distribute the vaccine. That takes Congress.

At the pace we are vaccinating the country, NBC said it will take 10 years to vaccinate every one. At one hospital they were so screwed up they vaccinated patients that aren’t due yet because it was either vaccinate them or throw the vaccine out due to expiration. I thought the elderly and those with underlying conditions would go in Nanuary. Forget that. My main concern are those working on the front line. Biden needs to on day one use the defense clause to increase production and come up with a National Plan. At this point I am hoping for my group in spring and hopefully the rest by summer

They are going to start vaccinating the elderly/people with pre existing conditions in January. I’m hopefully that this nonsensical rationing to healthcare facilities only will shortly end, especially with AstraZeneca likely approved in coming weeks.

I check the place out most days to make sure it's running. Still negotiating a new server...not even slugs move this slow.

What will happen first, I get the covid vaccine (last time I checked I was 260 million something in line), or NYYFans gets a new server?

                          Anecdotal, I know! But...

Until December I knew of two people who had COVID (though I'm sure it was higher). This month alone I know of six.

I worked with a kid and his entire family had Covid (mom, dad, 2 sisters) but he tested negative and never had symptoms. Go figure? (he stayed home for 10 days)

I hadn't seen any movement from the family across the street from me so I checked on them. My neighbor said they had been sick which naturally made me ask if they had covid. He said he didn't know because they never went to a doctor or got tested. I sincerely believe there is a strong possibility they may have had covid but they chose not to be tested so we will never know. I suspect there are many cases like that of possible unreported covid. (Yeah, my neighbors are Trump supporters)

If we don't get a new server before you get the vaccine, we're not getting one at all.
