How are these things even a little bit analogous?

The most medically at risk for complications should be prioritized-it's not a complicated concept. Find me a study that shows race has a similar effect as age on CFR and I will agree with you.

Some of the people who are being mobile don't have a choice. I have a job that forces me into the office. I am being as responsible as I can be, but shouldn't we vaccinate people who have no choice but to be in dangerous situations in the hope it will tamp down infections more?

Also, I'm not saying we should skip the elderly -- I'm saying we should sprinkle in the younger folks with health issues because by vaccinating some of those people, you will do more to slow transmission than by vaccinating people who are all staying home.

            In America,
Life expectancy of African Americans has decreased by 2 years because of the pandemic.
1.9 years for Hispanics. And 0.8 years for Caucasians.

It’s dont be old, don’t be in a risk group, and don’t be black. African Americans have been hit harder than any group except maybe Native Americans

What? Seriously. What the hell is this? I'm responsible as hell and support this because we've all been ripped off. And I keep working even though my body is falling apart at a relatively young age; student loans are a big reason for that. Most Europeans go to college for free.

              I'm...

Not for biological reasons, but you know this. Disease severity is not impacted by race. I can't tell whether you are setting up a straw man or actually think there should be race-based prioritization. You keep bringing up risk groups, but the data shows risk groups are significantly less of a factor than age.

                  No straw man.
It’s right on the CDC website.
African Americans are 1.9x more likely to die. Hispanics 2.3x and Native Americans 2.4x.

Took our friend to get his second shot today for a 6:10am appt. Snowy weather in CT, at 5am the main highways were fine but the secondary roads were an icy mess. Glad I have all wheel drive. So that's over with for him. Yay.
You wanna know what? You gotta problem with Luis Cessa, you gotta problem with me. And I suggest you let that one marinate

Stamford? My parents got their 2nd shot there yesterday and barely beat the snow back home. The state of MA just opened up vaccinations for age 65 and over + 2 certain medical conditions so my father-in-law is eligible now as he has diabetes and a pacemaker.

We went to the old Pratt&Whitney plant at East Hartford. That's where they sent us when he was scheduled.

My mother got her second Pfizer shot yesterday afternoon at Danbury Hospital.

Heard on MSNBC this morning because of the variants, they may need a third Pfizer shot

Finally got an appointment for the first shot but not until March 24th. Really a zoo trying to schedule an appointment in NYC.

I can imagine. Happy to hear you got an appointment, Mike.

If you want earlier and have time on your hands, I’ve been able to schedule a couple of appointments in nyc for relatives via Walgreens (they own Duane Reed), CVS, or Rite Aid. They release appointments only a couple days in advance for 1st shot. This was before the recent eligibility expansion though, so circumstances may have changed.
