That is awesome news. My Brother-in-law will be eligible when you are. Hopefully MA follows the same timeline. My Father-in-law is getting his first shot on 3/2.

so sorry to hear this Rick

My sister's lifelong friend/first boyfriend's dad went to the eye dr friday and they gave him a rapid test and he was told he had covid and to go home and reschedule when he's better...had no symptoms..went home and a few hours later, died. Didn't have any known underlying conditions this disease - ugh...

I have to say - grading the tri-state, CT has done the best by far, then NY and then NJ. Murphy has let us down...

My mom's appt for tomorrow was pushed back but just one day as doses should finally be arriving today ...fingers, toes and everything else crossed!

Leaving younger disabled people to wait for up to 2.5 more months is evil.

Well I am an older person with at least 5 critical underlying issues and still waiting. This decision cost me 2-3 weeks as underlying conditions and essential workers were due up next the old way. But state have shown that age is the main favor for increased odds of contracting and having more severe cases and also most with underlying conditions are older and the goal is to vaccinate as many people as fast as possible. Ideally there would be enough vaccine for all. Also they said they were having issues identifying exactly who falls under essential workers and also proof of underlying issues. Even though I will wait longer I think that so is the best approach as there is no way to vaccinate everyone at onc

Also one reason Connecticut is ranked so high in vaccinating their citizens is unlike say New York who opened it up to most groups without enough vaccine to accommodate, Connecticut has waited to have vaccine in hand before they open things up to a New group.

              Re: Covid-19

I think what Lamont said all the guidelines were becoming too complicated and just made the roll out more difficult - what is an eligible condition? If that's an eligible condition why isn't this one eligible? Do you need a medical certificate to prove it? Is that an invasion of privacy? If you don't provide medical certificates are some underserving people going to jump the line? What's a front line worker? Is it everyone who works at a grocery store or just the people who work in the front of the store and not in the back? etc.

He decided it was more efficient and less confusing to go by age groups. Of course not everyone is happy about that.

All in all, I think Ned has done a pretty good. He genuinely seems to care about the citizens, about businesses that either have had to shut down or are struggling to just get by. He's trying his best but admits when he has fallen short. I shudder to think what it would have been like if our previous imperious governor was at the helm during this pandemic.
You wanna know what? You gotta problem with Luis Cessa, you gotta problem with me. And I suggest you let that one marinate

An aside: I know someone in their 40s who was able to jump the line in MA because he had 2 recognized medical conditions: high blood pressure/high cholesterol and a BMI of 20% (I think that was the %, it may have been different). I mean that's like over 50% of America right there.

Agreed they were finding it a challenge to identify them. I think this is the best of the options

30% BMI is the threshold. 20% would include everyone in MA not on the TB12 diet.
I am 48 and do not have a single qualifying medical condition which normally should be a positive thing.

thanks for the clarification. Although, I don't think he had to prove his BMI other than saying he was at or over it.

This is one of the places where we're massively inconsistent.

I have letters from the Undersecretary of Defense and the Director of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency stating that I am an essential worker, and that I should be exempt from any Stay At Home orders. But it seems "essential" and "front line" are two different things. I need to wait my turn while 22-year-old teachers move to the front of the line.

The VA got a distribution of vaccines, and the guidance they published included "manufacturing" as being among the prioritized categories. But when I called for an appointment, the screening went "are you a first responder or medical professional?" When I replied that I was critical defense infrastructure/manufacturing, they told me I was ineligible.

So, I'm essential enough that I need to go to work, but not "front line" enough to get a shot. And I'm old, but not old enough (by a couple months) to get a shot.

I'm still wondering if they will lower the age limit first, or if I'll turn 65 and magically become eligible first. It might be close.

I've said this before: my youngest son was labeled as an essential worker because he works for a hospital. But he's in administration and has worked from home since the pandemic began. Even after receiving both doses of the vaccine he still works from home. So saying someone works in an essential industry is a complicated issue.

And while I have at least five conditions that qualify as underlying conditions I also work from home. Hard to justify bumping me up so I can go out and get wings
