Then why do they announce a week ahead of time where they're going to set the bar? If you're eligible for a shot next Tuesday, and they're scheduling appointments now for next Tuesday, you should be able to schedule your vaccine. If you can't even get in line until you're eligible, why do you need to know a week ahead of time?

First pitch is at 7:00 PM. Do you get to the ballpark at 6:00, or do you not even walk up to the turnstile until 7:00? Your ticket says 7:00. You shouldn't be allowed to get in line until then.

Once again you're arguing semantics. You are eligible to sign up on the day your group opens up. Full stop. If there are appointments the day you are eligible to signup, then you can get the shot that day. If not you get in line with the rest of the folks. Simple, easy, effective.

          Fair enough.

I think it's absurd to suggest that you're eligible to get a shot on Tuesday, and they're taking appointments for Tuesday, but you can't MAKE an appointment for Tuesday, because you're not eligible today. I don't want to make an appointment for today, when I'm not eligible. I want to make an appointment for Tuesday, when I am. If I wait until Tuesday, when I'm eligible, I can't make an appointment for Tuesday, because those appointments were issued last week. So, I'm not eligible to get a shot on Tuesday, after all. Nope. I'm eligible to call for an appointment on Tuesday, which is not what the Governor said.

There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one's safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to he was sane and had to.

Got my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine today at the County Center.

NY state is opening up more appointments tomorrow at 8am. Last time they did that, over 200,000 appointments were made in one day, so hopefully those of you in NY still waiting can get an appointment tomorrow.

The Fourth Surge Is Upon Us. This Time, It’s Different.

                https://www.theatlantic.com/health/a...accine/618463/

Across the United States, cases have started rising again. In a few cities, even hospitalizations are ticking up. The twists and turns of a pandemic can be hard to predict, but this most recent increase was almost inevitable: A more transmissible and more deadly variant called B.1.1.7 has established itself at the precise moment when many regions are opening up rapidly by lifting mask mandates, indoor-gathering restrictions, and occupancy limits on gyms and restaurants.

We appear to be entering our fourth surge.

The good news is that this one is different. We now have an unparalleled supply of astonishingly efficacious vaccines being administered at an incredible clip. If we act quickly, this surge could be merely a blip for the United States. But if we move too slowly, more people will become infected by this terrible new variant, which is acutely dangerous to those who are not yet vaccinated.

The United States has an advantage that countries such as Canada, France, Germany, and Italy, who are also experiencing surges from this variant, don’t. The Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines work very well against this variant, and the U.S. has been using them to vaccinate more than 3 million people a day. That’s more than 4 percent of our vaccine-eligible population every three days. An astonishing 73 percent of people over 65, and 36 percent of all eligible adults in the country, have already received at least one dose. More than 50 million people are now considered fully vaccinated, having received either their booster dose or the “one and done” Johnson & Johnson shot. Many states have already opened up vaccination to anyone over 16, and everyone eligible is expected to have a chance to get at least a first dose no later than May.

If you are having trouble finding a shot in your area but are able to travel a bit, consider looking in Trump Country for your vaccination.

Pfizer has reported 100% efficacy in teens ages 12-15. That's amazing news. I can't wait until they have results for younger kids, ages 6 months up to 12. I want my kids vaccinated.

One day post second shot, a slight headache and some general achiness. Not bad. Not bad at all.

I'm so thankful there are people out there who say "yes, use my toddler in this trial". I don't know if I could do that, but I will happily give them the approved vaccine when it's out.
