How white evangelicals’ vaccine refusal could prolong the pandemic
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bal...outputType=amp
Stephanie Nana, an evangelical Christian in Edmond, Oklahoma, refused to get a COVID-19 vaccine because she believed it contained “aborted cell tissue.”
Nathan French, who leads a nondenominational ministry in Tacoma, Washington, said he received a divine message that God was the ultimate healer and deliverer: “The vaccine is not the savior.”
Lauri Armstrong, a Bible-believing nutritionist outside of Dallas, said she did not need the vaccine because God designed the body to heal itself, if given the right nutrients. More than that, she said, “It would be God’s will if I am here or if I am not here.”
The deeply held spiritual convictions or counterfactual arguments may vary. But across white evangelical America, reasons not to get vaccinated have spread as quickly as the virus that public health officials are hoping to overcome through herd immunity."Our work continues, the fight goes on, and the big dreams never die." -- Elizabeth Warren

This makes me want to scream. And cry. I... know some of these people. I may or may not be related to them. I'm not giving up, but they're not super interested in listening to the heathen. Scientific articles mean nothing. How do you counter that? Sigh.

This may be interesting for those in NJ. My daughter works for a natural gas company and that just got included in the last expansion on April 5. She was already registered but had no priority at the time she registered, and there is no on-line mechanism to adjust your record to claim priority. We did some on-line inquiries and they told us to call the state 800 number with the info. To our pleasant shock and surprise, there was almost no wait, and they instantly updated her info and gave her an appt. for 10 AM tomorrow. She's ecstatic."Deep to left! Yastrzemski will not get it! It's a home run! A three-run homer by Bucky Dent! And the Yankees now lead by a score of 3-2!" - New York Yankees announcer Bill White (October 2, 1978)

It took two games for the football team at the school my wife teaches at to come down with a case and have to be quarantined. They played a team from a town 40 minutes away and that gave the virus another path across the state into this school and now 30something kids are in quarantine. Why are we wasting time with high school sports?

I really think it'll have to come down to private businesses and employers requiring proof of vaccination - if they see people living their lives while they're stuck inside, they might have a change of heart. I doubt that those requirements will be widespread enough to matter, though."Our work continues, the fight goes on, and the big dreams never die." -- Elizabeth Warren

My hope is that airlines will start requiring it. Then they'd have to get it because they want to visit people who live too far away to drive to see.
