Isn;t that answering your own question?

Eh...Not necessarily. He lived a significant portion of his adult life in MD, and prior to that he graduated Wake Forest. I myself have ties to Raleigh, so we know a lot of the same people: people that visit South Florida for long golf weekends, Grapefruit League mini-tours, beach excursions, etc. He’s one of the houses the southbound stay in (a friendly AirBnB, if you will).

He did say that those dates were contingent on low case incidence and continued improvements in vaccination rates. Still, it seems highly optimistic to me.

I did finally get my first Pfizer shot this past Saturday. I'm due for my second on Mother's Day. If these dates hold, I'll have full immunity right as everything opens back up.

One of my issues throughout this last year has been the complete absence of Exit Criteria. Remember "Two weeks to flatten the curve!"? We're making things up as we go. If they had said up front that these restrictions (mask wear, distancing, restaurant closures, etc.) would be in place until various criteria were achieved, like the quantity of new cases falling below X, or hospitalizations below Y, or deaths below Z, then the people would understand the end game, and could see whether progress was being made. But we have failed to EVER define what the desired end state is. And that has contributed mightily to quarantine fatigue. That fatigue is also likely a contributor to vaccine hesitancy. Too many people are saying "Why should I get the vaccine when nothing is going to change?"

"Low case incidence" and "continued improvements" are not defined goals.

You're absolutely right, although I think "making things up as we go" is a little strong. We definitely were flying the plane while we were building it in the beginning, but our knowledge and understanding of the virus (and now the vaccines) continues to evolve, which shifted the timeline and methodology from what was originally stated.

That said, some states seem to be making it up as they go, with little scientific reasoning behind their decisions. But this is also the problem with leaving the exit criteria up to the states to figure out. You get 50 different governors with 50 different interpretations of what is an acceptable target.

First, none of the states have defined exit criteria, so none of the 50 states have a formal 'acceptable target.' We use terms like "better" or "improved" but don't define what those terms actually mean.

But second, there SHOULD be variations. The "acceptable target" is going to be different in a less-densely populated state like Montana than in New York. New Jersey likely has more hospital beds per capita than North Dakota. These are all variables that should be part of the equation. If only we HAD an equation.

With something like this we're only as strong as our weakest link which is why the failure at the federal level from a year ago is still the biggest failure of leadership in my lifetime.

No argument there. If it's not at the top of the "failures of leadership" list, it's got to be very close to the top.

Eagerly awaiting my second Pfizer shot later today. Not eagerly awaiting the possible side effects of that shot. My brother had chills, fatigue, body aches after the first shot.

Make sure to give us an update.

I had my first Pfizer shot yesterday. Arm is sore but otherwise nothing else. I have my 2nd on May 11.

I was pretty ragged after number 2 but a day of sick in exchange for hanging with friends, going to restaurants, traveling, etc? I'll take that ten times out of ten.

Just got my second Pfizer shot. Hopefully it works on me.

I had all that after receiving the Johnson & Johnson shot, but nothing severe. I've had hangovers that were much worse.
