A pill that can be ingested orally at home to combat Covid-19 when illness is first detected could be available to the public by the end of 2021, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla told CNBC on Tuesday, noting that the antiviral treatment is expected to be effective against variants of the virus.

So my employer has made vaccination mandatory as a requirement of employment. All employees must be vaccinated against covid by September 1 (unless they have some type of health risk)
You wanna know what? You gotta problem with Luis Cessa, you gotta problem with me. And I suggest you let that one marinate

Good for them. After much debate, I went the same route with my minions. I expected a little push back from a couple but nope. Everyone was on board which made my life much more pleasant.

Every employer, especially healthcare facilities, needs to do this.

How are they verifying this, without violating HIPPA?

I'm certainly in favor of encouraging people to get the shot(s). I got mine at the first possible opportunity. But I don't know how an employer can make it mandatory without violating their employee's privacy.

Unless someone is strict work from home it should be mandatory

It is not a HIPAA violation to require proof of vaccine. The EEOC has provided pages and pages of guidance on this. What you can ask, what you can't ask, what constitutes an ADA provision for not getting the vaccine and what the qualification standard it to determine if an unvaccinated employee would be a direct threat to the workplace, how to determine if reasonable accommodation can be provided, and how to manage an employee request for religious accommodation. A lot went into making our decision.

HIPAA. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

That makes it illegal for your doctor to give your employer (or anyone else) medical information without your consent. It doesn't make it illegal for your employer to ask you for - or even demand - certain medical information. I'm already required to either show proof of a flu vaccine or wear a mask every winter. An employer is justified in guarding against a public health hazard.
