One of the kids at work has covid (the only one I work with who hasn't received at least one vaccine dose) Guess where he just came back from recently? Yep, Florida. I'm glad I'm fully vaccinated.

I saw this article earlier and wanted to cry. The article does give hope for it turning into a milder thing, but it's still so depressing. It's not OK. We've got to start making them mandatory for flying, sporting events, concerts, etc. No vaccine, no entrance.

In other news, give my home state of CT a round of applause because we are the first state in the country to have over 50% of its population (age 18+) fully vaccinated. Not herd immunity yet but we're getting there.

As of right now, CT is maintaining the indoor mask mandate even as businesses can go to 100%. Sounds like it's fluid and could change most likely after the school year ends.

Didn’t hear about the masks but glad. I still think the mask mandate should remain anywhere indoors or larger crowds as while CT has 69% of population vaccinated (tops in country) still too many who have not

My sister is having a party for her son this weekend who is turning 3. 40+ people. Not sure who's vaccinated or not. I know my sister and her husband aren't yet - and they both just took separate trips with friends because they needed "a weekend away". Sister went to SC and her husband went to Oregon. Neither quarantined upon return.

And yet I'm being given guilt from her and my mom for not going to the party this weekend. Yeah my wife and I are vaccinated, but the kids aren't. My SIL and niece tested positive after having a friend over for outdoor playdate a few weeks ago. This is after my sister-in-law's 2 week post-vaccine date too.

My response to people like this is “I will worry about me, you worry about you” I don’t even bother talking about Covid with non vaxxers.

Obviously if there is a medical reason preventing someone from getting the vaccine, this didn’t apply, but I think those choosing not to get the vaccine will find themselves on the outside looking in at a lot of functions friends and family have. In my house if you aren’t vaccinated you are not welcome. And a lot of people I know feel the same. Even if you are vaccinated it is 95% effective and for those not strong in math 95 is less than 100. So being around unvaccinated people is an unneeded risk

That may happen regionally, but I think you are going to see a bunch of places with relatively lower vaccination rates, and it won't be surprising if they continue to have outbreaks in the coming months and years.

Oh I have no doubt EVERYWHERE there will be flare ups. While I do not oppose reopening I think they foolishly expect people to use common sense. I don’t think any region is exempt
