I think one reason why the CDC is doing this is because you hear a few vaccine hold-outs saying "if I have to still wear a mask after being vaccinated what's the point of getting vaccinated?". So now the CDC is offering a carrot - you get vaccinated you can stop wearing the mask.
You wanna know what? You gotta problem with Luis Cessa, you gotta problem with me. And I suggest you let that one marinate

I don't think it's as complicated as you are making it. Employees can still wear masks. Get vaccinated. Choose a different job. Jump off a bridge. It's no different than how they live normally.

It's not gonna work. The anti vax crowd already stopped wearing masks. They just lie about being vaccinated now.

Eh. I care about my employees and truly appreciate the sacrifices they have made over the past year to keep us operating. I'm not going to disregard their feelings on this. To each their own.

Holy cow. This really does need to be shared. If it gets more of them vaccinated, I don't care if it's for selfish reasons. It'll help protect others.

I feel bad for the small percentage of people that can't get vaccinated and children that are not eligible yet but the people that are putting them at risk are not the people that are vaccinated and half the country has dropped their mask mandates anyway. Like I said, it's just frustrating. We should counting down to herd immunity right now but instead here we are. Too many people unvaccinated and the virus with too many hosts that could be allowing it to mutate.
I can't just stop caring, unfortunately. Look at the nightmare in India right now. It's heartbreaking. Plus both of my kids are still too young to get vaccinated.

I hate that we're not counting down to herd immunity. Sigh.

Yay! I can't wait until my kids can get theirs!

My husband just got his first vaccine (Pfizer, same one that I got) today. Finally!

                  Just buy this.

As someone who got J&J this is really making me question things. Between this and my personal story of my sister in law who also got J&J getting a positive case after her two week post-shot date, I can't help but wonder if it's safe to try and get Pfizer after getting J&J?

Eight members of the New York Yankees — seven coaches and support staffers, plus shortstop Gleyber Torres — have tested positive for the coronavirus over the past three days, even though all of them were fully vaccinated. The news came as the Centers for Disease Control said Thursday that fully vaccinated Americans no longer have to wear masks indoors or outdoors in most cases.

According to the Yankees, all of the infected team members had been inoculated with the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which was found to be 72 percent effective at preventing moderate to severe covid-19 and 74 percent effective at preventing asymptomatic infection. Other vaccines by Pfizer and Moderna, which require two doses, have been found to be more effective by the CDC at halting the disease.

Personally, I don't think there is a concern but that is something you have to make an informed decision on. I don't know if this will help you or not but it made sense to me.

A lot of people may be wondering, with 8 vaccinated breakthrough cases on the Yankees - is this evidence the vaccines aren't as effective as we thought? The short answer is no. A brief thread:

I'm happy I held out for the mRNA shots, even while getting called a "vaccine snob" by some people in my personal life for it.

NJ is one of two states, along with HI, with no plans to lift the indoor mask mandate. Phil Murphy is also the country's only governor up for reelection this year so I wonder if that plays into it.
