There are apparently four MLB teams who have not hit the 85% mark that gains them relaxed restrictions. Neither Mets and Red Sox have hit that 85%.

That sucks. My oldest is getting hers this month, but my youngest (going into 2nd grade) wants one too. Luckily they still plan to have in person school this fall. They were in person all last year, but they'll still need masks which I feel bad about.

Well, our horrific governor doesn't care if we all die and mandated that districts can't require masks, so I know most people here won't be wearing them. We already were informed they'll be "optional." So my kids will definitely wear them indoors since neither one is old enough to be vaccinated. I've told them they will wear them indoors and they know the reason.

I hate this. I hate how selfish and ignorant people are.

I'm surprised they'll be optional in your state. I'm sorry. We're in the same boat.

My only positive here is that I'm on the school site council and know that ~90% of the staff are vaccinated. That doesn't help with the kids bringing it from their unvaccinated parents, but it's something. I guess.

Time for a Brazil update. After a Trump copycat COVID-19 disaster, with the second largest death toll in the world, things are finally turning around. They have sourced enough vaccine for the whole country within a decent time frame. First shots are in 40%+ of all adults, and the pace of vaccinations is ramping up. New cases are still high, but about half of their peak a few months ago. Age band is now down to 40 and up. Vaccinations are one thing that Brazil does well. Everyone has a vaccine record card, as there are strict requirements for travel in yellow fever areas, and school vaccinations are taken seriously. Most impressive compared to the US, 94% of all Brazilians plan to get the vaccine as soon as it is available to them. I can see a future where Brazil looks better than the US by Christmas. If Bolsonaro gets the Trump treatment in the fall, I foresee his replacement going mandatory on COVID vaccine on his/her Inauguration Day.(Jan 1, 2022)

Good they are vaccinated. Highly unlikely they will need a hospital stay. Just a quarantine so as not to spread it to others.

you do know herd immunity requires somewhere between 70-90% of the population to have anti bodies right?
