I'm fine with providing treatment to the unvaccinated, but only up to the point someone who has been vaccinated doesn't need the care. Aren't we also convening a death panel when we refuse care to a vaccinated person because the beds are full of the unvaccinated? Do we tell them "sorry, you'll just have to wait until there's room," or do we push the unvaccinated guy out into the hallway? Either way, you're picking one person or the other. Why not prioritize the one who took measures to avoid needing the care?

I agree. It's not fair to put medical professionals in that position. They've got enough to deal with these days.

So same question - where is your line? if you go to the emergency room late on a saturday night with heart pain do you get to go ahead of the drunk driver, the gang member, the obese mom, the overdose? since you made better life choices do you get priority?

This. It goes against everything healthcare professionals are trained to do. And what do we recommend they do with the critically ill Covid patients?

this. One of my issues with conservatives is they are reactionary vs proactive. Even in medicine in Florida and other red states they are pushing the treatment options (after the fact) over vaccines (proactive snd preventative).mandates work as they help prevent serious illness to begin with

Try to send them someplace else to get care. I'm not saying there's a good answer (beyond vaccination, of course). But you can't ask healthcare workers to take people off equipment that is keeping them alive and push them out the door. It's literally against the code of what they've been trained to do.

Obesity and OD are complex and not the fault of the patients. Just saying.

Says you. I want to know what the death panel folks think.

Complex enough that I think "not the fault of the patient" is a little simplistic.

                        Fair point.

Well, yes. I was just trying to make a quick point, which I still believe to be true overall.

So, a death panel. Got it.

I get that, too. Color me....frustrated.

So where are the people refusing to be admitted to an ER or ICU? If they don't believe in the medical science that recommended they get a shot, why do they believe in the medical science that the hospital might offer? I hope the hospital doesn't take it upon themselves to give an inoculation to them while they're unconscious and on a respirator. Horror!

No atheists in foxholes, I guess.

Pretty sure giving vaccines to folks currently infected with a disease is against medical practice as that's not at all how vaccines work.

Correct. If you have Covid, the vaccine as a treatment is useless
