The one light at the end of the tunnel is an increasing number of doctors are saying we are closer to endemic status than not. If Omicron continues to be more transmissible but less severe/deadly, then that's a really good sign we're headed there.
Yes and no. On a case by case basis it is good news. But with it being extremely more transmissible I think hospitalizations and deaths overall may be the same if not higher which could lead to even more mutations. We need to get more vaccinated before we start thinking the end of it is in sight

We will have to deal with this virus the rest of our lives because people suck. Maybe future generations will do better.

        Agreed. It isn’t going away

I don't think anybody said it was going away, just that it would become endemic, like the flu.

This isn't any way to live forever. It's not life. Sadly I have to hope for endemic status sooner rather than later, and am glad that some experts think it's coming next year.

I have given up on predictions about when it will end. For me it is likely forever as even endemic level is too Much for my situation. Remember July 4 we celebrated the supposed freedom from covid? It will get better when the trumpers get vaccinated and more of the world does. In the mean time I am going to enjoy life as it is. Been nice not adding to the capitalistic system

Biden administration likely to change covid message from prevention to living with covid in Tuesday’s speech. More of a focus will be on severity of cases vs number of cases. I agrees. With vaccines out, total cases isn’t the right barometer

This is right in my wheelhouse. I've been doing social distancing my entire life
You wanna know what? You gotta problem with Luis Cessa, you gotta problem with me. And I suggest you let that one marinate

Sadly covid doesn’t care about our feelings. For me I likely never will be free unless by miracle the virus disappears or they find a vaccine or treatment that totally prevents it

Once you are fully covid vaccinated, what is different for you with covid than the flu?

Because the vaccine is close to worthless for transplant recipients so even though I have the booster. While most are 90% plus protected, I am likely in the 0-20% range. The immune system reducing drugs can’t distinguish between normal cells and the cells created by the antibodies. For us the flu is more dangerous too but for me covid would have a very high chance of death or at least being placed on a ventilator. Also for me I almost died in 2016 from a virus that acts much like covid so I am sure there is a PTSD component from that too

In addition to Warren, Cory Booker tests positive. This after the CEO of Southwestern Airlines tested positive and was seen openly coughing during testifying

This administration is f'ing evil and monstrous and I hate them so much.

Screw any children below 5 years old since they can't get the vaccine yet even if they/their parents want. Screw any teenagers who want to get vaccinated but their parents won't let them. Screw anyone who is immunocompromised or unvaccinated not by choice. Screw protecting all of the citizens of the country and let's place the blame on them instead of us for not doing anything more. Let's just go ahead and pretend that unvaccinated people don't exist at all in our happy capitalist paradise.

This is a terrible take. You might as well be a Republican in the beginning of 2020 saying "it's just the flu, bro."
