Sounds good. Waiting to see some evidence of that but unfortunately, what's coming out from non-CDC sources seems to be a mixed bag so it's hard to get a handle on it. You got something specific that I might be missing?

After five weeks of Omicron spread in South Africa, only 27 percent of the country is fully vaccinated, but less than two percent of new cases are requiring hospitalization. And that number is even overstated as they count anyone admitted for non-COVID reasons.
Omicron accounts for 73% of COVID cases right now. Where are all the deaths? Got to keep the fear train moving. Full steam ahead.

Japan's ministry of health:
Consent to vaccination
Although we encourage all citizens to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, it is not compulsory or mandatory. Vaccination will be given only with the consent of the person to be vaccinated after the information provided. Please get vaccinated of your own decision, understanding both the effectiveness in preventing infectious diseases and the risk of side effects. No vaccination will be given without consent. Please do not force anyone in your workplace or those who around you to be vaccinated, and do not discriminate against those who have not been vaccinated.

"They say it is not as harmful as it seems, some experts even call it 'live vaccination'," Putin noted
SOCHI, December 7. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has cautioned against hasty judgments regarding the Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus, and cited experts who compare the strain to a live vaccine. At a meeting devoted to economic issues on Tuesday Putin pointed to several tasks to be coped with in developing the country and the economy.
He said that the results "will have to be achieved under difficult conditions of an epidemic, the spread of a new strain of coronavirus". "Although they say it is not as harmful as it seems, some experts even call it 'live vaccination'," Putin noted.
"Let us not rush things. In any case, the markets have bounced back. Some fears have turned out to be premature, but in any case, we must proceed from what we have experienced over the past 18 months," Putin said. "The authorities are already aware of the latent obstacles and their effects on the economy." He stressed that he was waiting for a report on the issue to be made to him in the near future.

But I think without anything conclusive (and we certainly don't have that), we should err at least somewhat on the side of caution. The line between overreacting and under-reacting can be a little blurry. We need more firm data before we draw definitive conclusions and make big changes. Even Dr Coetzee, who CP quoted above, has expressed concern for the older and more at risk population. Also, when talk about severity, we need to take into consideration more than just deaths like with the more rapid spread how does that affect hospitalizations?

Also, the wording on this from the third article was a bit confusing...
For vaccines available in the UK, effectiveness against symptomatic Omicron infection ranged from 0% to 20% after two doses, and from 55% to 80% following a booster dose. The report also estimated that after taking individual risk factors into account, the odds of reinfection with Omicron are 5.4 times greater than for reinfection with Delta. A study of healthcare workers in the pre-Omicron era estimated that a prior SARS-CoV-2 infection afforded 85% protection against a second infection over 6 months, the researchers said, while "the protection against reinfection by Omicron afforded by past infection may be as low as 19%."

BRAZIL UPDATE
Back in August, I think I predicted that low vaccine hesitancy would allow the Brazilians to surpass US Covid performance once vaccine supply down there became adequate, probably by Christmas.Well, how about this?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...o-vaccination/
SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL — In a world struggling to convince people to take the coronavirus vaccine, the news was striking.
São Paulo, the largest city in the Western Hemisphere, announced late last month that it had succeeded where others had failed. One hundred percent of its adult population had been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus — a remarkable rate in an era characterized by an intransigent and growing globalanti-vaccine movement that has hobbled vaccination efforts from Europe to the United States.
In this city of 12.3 million, the story has gone differently. For months, day after day, long and orderly lines formed outside the city’s vaccination stations. Young and old, rich and poor, highly and barely educated: People showed up when their names were called. Then returned weeks later for the second dose.“The world’s vaccine capital,” the city has dubbed itself.
--------------------------------------------------
Bolstered by shipments of Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines, the immunization program in São Paulo drastically reduced the spread of a virus. At the height of the outbreak, the city hospital system was admitting more than 2,000 covid patients every day, filling more than 90 percent of beds in intensive care units. Now only 27 percent of public ICU beds are occupied by coronavirus patients. In a city that has buried nearly 40,000 coronavirus victims, deaths are down toan average of 13 per day. The private health-care association has stopped counting its covid intake numbers. The numbers are too low."Deep to left! Yastrzemski will not get it! It's a home run! A three-run homer by Bucky Dent! And the Yankees now lead by a score of 3-2!" - New York Yankees announcer Bill White (October 2, 1978)
