    That's a good one.

She’s in a great school ready to graduate with a 3.8x in civil engineering. She’s supposed to stay on for 2 more quarters and get a Masters but we’ll see how that goes now.

Went to work this morning. Basically, we’re moving to distance learning as much as possible. At our high school, the staff is on the ball, and have clearly been planning for it. Our district is issuing students laptops to take home if they don’t have computers at home, and Spectrum is offering 60-90 days of free internet. Today, the district offered free lunch to any students, regardless of their free/reduced status, and gave them a weeks worth of meals today, since we’re expecting rain/snow the rest of the week. It is really starting out quite well at the HS level. Most of the grades below that aren’t as well off, for various reasons. The hardest part is figuring out what to do the the SPED kids and their required services. Guidance from the feds and the state is slowly trickling out. I actually held an IEP today (I’m a school psych) and have two scheduled for tomorrow. I was actually a lot busier today than I though I would be. We only have 8 more days of this before we have our Spring Break and get a breather.

Really good read, appreciate it. The delivery is super no-nonsense without being morose, which is great.

Thanks for sharing. I'm gonna read through that tomorrow.

Yup. And also oddly seniors it seems. My aunt and uncle, both seniors with health issues, stayed at a casino over the weekend. They showed an overhead of a Florida beach full of people (mostly young). Didn’t help when until recently a certain politician wasn’t taking it seriously, and of course neither was a certain network.

You’re welcome guys. There’s even enough info to inform you on a few rabbit holes should you so choose to spend your day that way!

Are your aunt and uncle members of the foxnews fanbase? From what I've read republican seniors are much less likely to be taking this as seriously as their liberal counterparts but that may just be anecdotal.

I can say my two Northeastern Liberal transplanted-to-Florida back in 1985 parents need to be constantly reminded the seriousness of this outbreak. They’re 79 and 80, respectively and are as active as anyone their age not on a Wheaties Box.

“Dad, the gym at the country club is not the safest place to be right now.”

“Yeah, but there are hand sanitization things all over the place.”

“That doesn’t say much for the machines you’re sharing.”

                        Or

“Mom, if we must go out to dinner, then it makes more sense to get a table on the patio than to get seated inside.”

                        “But it’s cold out.”

“It’s 75 degrees. Wear a sweater, and take it off once you realize you are too warm.”

                        And...

“Mom, Dad, are you two actually golfing more than you used to?”

They are part of the never turn the news on base. I am not sure how big it is as a group but I am sure there is more. I do have an aunt and family members part of this group and sadly they believe just about anything god tells them

In the grand scheme of what people are going through, it's nothing, but I have no idea how we are going to do it. I'm not sure we can get away with not working full days.

Obviously it's a 1st world problem, as we luckily still have jobs to work as we watch her.
This is my situation except that its just me who is WFH. Hubby works at a senior living facility so they always have to have employees to take care of the resident.

My 2 year old son's daycare was closed for 2 days for cleaning. Now they are closed for the whole week and I assume they will eventually close for the foreseeable future. I don't particularly like to WFH - it just takes so much longer to do everything that is not answering emails for me. Combine that with a rambunctious kid and a puppy and its just horrible.

Yup, once again its us in Gen X that are left to deal with the fallout. We're the generation that has to worry about our germ-riddled kids missing school, trying to work from home, and also having to worry about our at-risk parents who are either ignorant to the dangers or don't believe it because of what's coming out of the White House.

My mother-in-law was like "well you can just bring the kids here" like it's no big deal. The whole point is to not have people near eachother. Especially since kids are most likely carriers without symptoms. I don't want it on my conscience that my kids gave you Covid.

An increasing number of places have closed down bars and restaurants. But many of those restaurants have instituted curbside pick-up. I can't stress enough how important it is to support them. McDonald's will survive all this. KFC will do just fine. But that quaint little Mom-and-Pop restaurant will not. It might not be the kind of place you think of for food 'to go.' But if they're doing it, please support them. Many small restaurants will not survive a month with no receipts. And, many of these places consider their staff to be family, and they'd like nothing better than to continue making payroll.

Skip the place with the well-known logo and drive through window. Pick up some food at the place you'd normally consider to be a sit-down restaurant.

And be extra generous with the tip!
