Rule Change Proposal: Mid-Week Injury Substitutions

Another league I am in has this provision and it is extremely useful and helpful. This permits teams to substitute a player for another player who goes on the IL once the week has started. This allows them to field a full lineup. The substitution goes into effect when the request is made, provided the team of both players has not started their game for the day. If either one has, then it goes into effect the next day.

This helps avoid a situation where someone sets their lineup and rosters lock and the next day one SP goes on the IL. Now, through no fault of their own, they are down 1-2 starts.

It makes a lot of sense to have a rule like that and the league should implement it next year.

Given the overwhelming support for this, this will go into effect next year.

I am sorry to hear this. I am immensely opposed to this. Predicting and understanding potential injuries is a major part of the process.

How are you predicting an injury in any given player?
