    Rule Change(?) Proposal: Trade Deadline

So it seems somewhere along the line the settings for the league got meshuga. Our trade deadline was traditionally a week after the official MLB trade deadline (the non-waiver deadline, the one in July). This year we seem to have no trade deadline for the regular season. That can ... cause problems.

There’s a trade deadline. The constitution says 8/31. We always had it earlier but I checked the constitution this year and that’s what it said.

XVI. TRADES: Trades may occur between any two teams, up until the trading
    deadline of August 31.

I believe this is the case, but I think that's a typo. If we look at past years the trade deadline was July 31.

I haven’t touched language that in years. I don’t care when it is and if the league votes to change it btw.

I think it’s oddly late too but if you look into it there were trades that went through in September of 2021 and 2022

Maybe it's been that way for a while and I just hadn't noticed. But I am sure it used to be around the MLB break

Just my 2 cents - but the trade deadline should NOT be on the eve of the playoffs. That invites chicanery.

I WISH more people voted and took an interest in the league. As stupid and silly as I may be from time to time, no one can rightly call me a passive owner.

To be fair we have changed out group membership a bit over the past 5 or so years to include non-forum members. A lot of them are still active on the CBS site, respond to trades, update their rosters but don't post here.
What is disappointing is the folks who used to post here who don't anymore, and who let trade requests and PMs site for months before just declining without a word

For visibility: I voted for the week after the MLB trade deadline option. I like the option of an extra week to make trades after the deadline as a player’s value can increase (or decrease) if they’re traded to a better (or worse) team, which influences trades.
Not a huge impact though, wouldn’t be upset if it was moved to the MLB deadline, but fully agree that it shouldn’t be this late in the season.

Of the three choices I like the week after the MLB deadline.

However, my real preference is July 31st.
