18. Juan Carela, RHP, White Sox
Team: Winston-Salem (Carolina)
Age: 21
Why He’s Here: 1-0, 0.00, 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 SO
The Scoop: Carela has thrown well since the White Sox acquired him at the trade deadline by sending righthander Keynan Middleton to the Yankees. Through Carela’s five starts with High-A Winston-Salem, his ERA sits at 2.57, while overall he has 131 strikeouts and 41 walks over 111.1 innings this season between his two organizations. (BB
Another great end of the year deal for Cashman? I said don't sleep on Juan...We could have Signed Middleton next year if we liked him so much...Why deal a young arm with promise??

I hope they use him right now that he's up.

However, didn't you also say the Yanks should use some of their prospects who they likely won't protect for something? (Might have been someone else). I think you proposed giving them up for maybe some international signing dollars.
I don't think it was likely we would have room to protect Carela and therefore was fine dealing him for something (whether it be Middleton, international dollars,...).
It is amazing that we got back yet another injured player from a deadline deal

I know you're not his biggest fan because he was put on the 40 man over others.. I get it but at least see what's there. They thought enough to put him on roster and haven't removed him. USE HIM.. I have seen this guy pitch lights out at times.
