Maybe Brito or Vasquez coming back down soon?

Doubt it. Vasquez was just added as soon as the roster expanded to 28 so they want to see what he has and the alternatives are bringing up Krook, Martinez or Weissart.

Wisssert was brought up - Hamilton hit the IL.

I don't know why Krook isn't up?? He has pitched well enough for a call up and not another 10 days before he's used?? I think he still has an under 1 WHIP?

            Selvidge got into the 7th on only 91 pitches: 6.2 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K

Looks to be hitting 92, and to have some personality to him.

              18. Juan Carela, RHP, White Sox
              Team:
              Winston-Salem (Carolina)
              Age: 21

              Why He’s Here: 1-0, 0.00, 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 SO

The Scoop: Carela has thrown well since the White Sox acquired him at the trade deadline by sending righthander Keynan Middleton to the Yankees. Through Carela’s five starts with High-A Winston-Salem, his ERA sits at 2.57, while overall he has 131 strikeouts and 41 walks over 111.1 innings this season between his two organizations. (BB

Another great end of the year deal for Cashman? I said don't sleep on Juan...We could have Signed Middleton next year if we liked him so much...Why deal a young arm with promise??

Because there were articles coming out late in deadline day that Cashman was the only GM to not make a deadline deal thus far and he made two dumb deals right before the clock clicked.

He's been exposed finally. Hopefully his end is near.

Why? Because Cashman needed to make a deal at the deadline. Did not matter if it was a stupid deal.

Because he has been beyond awful in the majors an was another Cashman mistake adding him to the 40 man roster. Any team that would have taken him in the Rule 5 draft would have returned him to us.

He wasn't used right . They used him after sitting for days. He's pitched well enough from returning from the DL to at least see what's there. I know you're not his biggest fan because he was put on the 40 man over others.. I get it but at least see what's there. They thought enough to put him on roster and haven't removed him. USE HIM.. I have seen this guy pitch lights out at times.
I hope they use him right now that he's up.

I generally speaking hate win now deadline deals (too much future value given up for too small of an upgrade).

However, didn't you also say the Yanks should use some of their prospects who they likely won't protect for something? (Might have been someone else). I think you proposed giving them up for maybe some international signing dollars.

I don't think it was likely we would have room to protect Carela and therefore was fine dealing him for something (whether it be Middleton, international dollars,...).

It is amazing that we got back yet another injured player from a deadline deal

I agree. I still believe in Krook's potential. He had ridiculously bad luck and bad fielding in his first big league appearance (which resulted in a disastrous, but misleading, line).

100 pct...If Juan was moved for IFA money i wouldn't have an issue..I think he would have been looked at as a fringy player to protect but to deal him for a so so rental IMO was a bad move. Just the wrong guy for the return IMO.

Krook could be bad? But to judge him over sitting and giving him 3 innings isn't enough to make that call. That's just trying to say you were right in not to have him on the 40..That aside though, he is doing well so try him, what's to lose at this point? You carried him on the roster all year because they see that he has talent so lets see.

                                Question for the group:

Was Thorpe on a pitch count last night? They removed him after 4 innings. Allowed 1 run, on a HR, 3 hits, 5 Ks, --0-- BBs. Only threw 54 pitches.

Hopefully, they are just being careful with him, and there is no "unannounced" injury.
