Was Thorpe on a pitch count last night? They removed him after 4 innings. Allowed 1 run, on a HR, 3 hits, 5 Ks, --0-- BBs. Only threw 54 pitches.

Hopefully, they are just being careful with him, and there is no "unannounced" injury.
You have to believe that he's closing in on his innings/pitches limit for this season.

That's what I'm hoping, and not that they are hiding an injury.

Warren, Sauer, Messinger (???) and TBD (who seems as if he is listed every day for Tampa) are tonight's starters.

I have a very high interest in Sauer. He has had some really amazing starts over the years. Injuries have really set him back, and losing that year to COVID also hurt. But I think he has the goods.

Just not sure he will get a chance around here, as he probably loses out in a numbers games to other guys.

Yea Matt has had some real good outings but he never seems to shake the injury bug a boo. I thought for sure he was going to have his breakout season this year.

Does Warren need to be added to the 40 man this off season?

If he"s eligible for the R5 draft, then YES...He would be IMO a top 5 pick being he could be used out of a pen now. With that said though i think he's got another year before he needs protection?

At least 10 guys will be exposed and need to be protected or i fear a big group will will be taken. Some like Serna and Familia at lower levels. Upper guys like Navaez.and Ramirez are sure targets as catchers. Chapparo, Beeter, Barcley. Sauer are others who could use protection but all won't fit. I wish Cashman moved a few for IFA money or comp picks but it didn't happen. Barcley was drawing a lot attention at the TDl . I'm sure he could have gotten a return.
Fringe guys I guess would be Dunham, Spence, Rodreguez, Bastida and Coleman. Coleman because of injury..

Luis Gil. Johny Brito. Randy Vasquez.

Who's got the best chance at cracking the rotation?

Who's got the best chance of being traded?

I guess the Yanks don't think Trey Sweeney can be used @ 3B? I was hoping he'd get some games in there this season.

Vasquez IMO but Gil has higher ceiling but a lot of what if's...Might be a better BP guy.

My take is his value is better at SS. I would have moved him to 3rd last year...

To deal him for a short term rental RP without making other moves to improve the ‘24 roster was dumb on its face.

seems like a couple of SSs are ahead of him on the totem pole, and Arias behind him.

I'd love to have a good defender @ 3B who hits lefty.

It would be nice. . Sweeney makes the plays he needs to but his range isn't great and he's a big kid. I'd be shocked if he stayed at SS.
