A lefty hitting catcher who has hit pretty well through the system..Rice was a mid round pick so not much hype..As far as his catching goes i'd say skill wise he is a notch up over Wells. Rice has an average ish arm. I don't know how he is with a staff though. Rice is also pretty good at 1st base. He has a real soft glove. He gets to balls in the dirt with ease but i think he uses that ability to much when catching.. Wells has better wheels and until this season more power. JMO

BTW One thing i love about Rice is he developed nicely while being second fiddle. Top picks like Siegler, Breaux, and IFA's received more time and attention.

After graduations, Drew Thorpe has broken into the Top 100 for both Pipeline and BA this past week.

We did, his name was Montgomery and once he got away from the Yankees he did better.

You're right but i was hoping for a solid 2,3. Monty pitched that role for the Cards but for us was a 4,5. I guess you can count Nestor in as well but i think his best days are behind him.

It's interesting that Thorpe gets a lot more attention than Chase Hampton here but Hampton is ranked higher in all prospect rankings.

Seeing both a few times I had Thorpe over Hampton...I like his arsenal and his poise. Hampton is more energy but his velo was down when i had seen him. I know he's come up some, Maybe tired arm? Hope even just one of them pans out.

So anyone still believe in Matt "24.75 ERA" Krook? I thought Nick Nelson was the worst reliever I have ever seen from the AAA shuttle.

It wasn't about his ability ...It was use him if he's on the 40. Judging a guy who pitched 3 innings isn't fair...
BTW Why didn't you post this after he pitched a 11 pitch 2 SO inning? You must have hated that...LOL

Yes, I think he was worth protecting and frankly think the way the Yankees have handled him has been shoddy. Given the current state of the team I hope they work him in regularly until the end of the season rather than having him go long stretches without appearances.

Call me crazy but I'm not willing to give up on a power LHRP that has absolutely dominated at SWB (8 hits in 29 IP with 49 K) due to control issues and a few bad innings over the course of a few months from a rookie. Now that it's garbage time they should give him some innings to work with the ML coaching staff.

I agree. If he didn’t do so well at AAA agree with the negative but he needs to pitch and if you’re not going to pitch him move on. Sorry but I can’t judge a guy with 5 innings under his belt. That would be like judging a hitter for going 0 for 5 and saying this guy will never hit.

....aaaand Krook gets demoted for Matt Bowman and/or Anthony Misiewicz. Two retreads. Bowman is 4 years older than Krook, hadn't pitched in 2 years due to TJS, was signed by the Yanks to a mL deal and elected FA two separate times trying to catch on with any other club unsuccessfully. Misiewicz has been traded for cash considerations and/or claimed off waivers 5 times in the last year. Neither had any real success at SWB.

This is the stuff that slays me. This team is done this season. If Bowman or Misiewicz are in your bullpen in '24 you have problems. If the opportunity cost of Krook potentially struggling in a few of the remaining dead-man-walking games is that we don't get the privilege of seeing either of these guys pitch, that's no opportunity cost at all.

If they were calling up young arms with actual promise, I'd get it.

                              Stupid.

So i was hoping to see Jasso today but his right arm had a bandage on it and was't playing..Ugg. I saw Lombard but he DH'ed. George had two solid hits. He, by looks reminded me of a younger Machado...His build is similar and his ears stuck out like Manny.. Nice swing , open stance, small stride forward. good back hand load, with some filling out to do should do well. He has left elbow. twitch thing ..Morgan ish but not as pronounced.Nice kid..I wish he had played SS.
Jackson Castillio played RF, WOW, he got to two balls i didn't think he could get to...Gets a nice jump..Great to see..He's about 5'10" thick build but looks solid. He doesn't get cheated on his swing...He corkscrewed him self twice missing the pitch..NIce YS swing...He lowered him self to keep his swing at times which is fine but he also dropped his hands to go after breaking balls.. That will be addressed i'm sure.
Fristoe pitched 4 real good innings. Real pop on his FB 96-98 ...Needs something quality to go with it. Nice arm and he is 6'4" and could develop some more strength.
Another good Day for Martinez behind the plate ..Caught two guys napping at first and got them with quick snap throws.I really like this kid.
Riggio didn't play but kudos to him talking to a bunch of kids behind the dugout about baseball fundamentals. The last time is had seen that type of fan interaction was when Cervelli was in our system ...Classy stuff...Nice to see.
