Well, so far, the top of the #Tarpons lineup isn't disappointing!

      Volpe: 1-for-1, 2B, 3BB, 3R, 2SB
      Wells: 2-for-4, HR, 2B, 3RBI, 2R
      Hauver: 3-for-3, 2HR, 1B, BB, 3RBI, 2R
      Sanford: 3-for-4, 3 1B, RBI, R

Nine of the 10 Tampa hits after five innings of play. #Yankees

Final line for Luis Gil as our #OpeningDay starter:

        3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K

Think we can get used to this.

I can get used to more innings per outing than this.

Still curious about why Jasson is in extended ST. Is he not ready for the lowest level of professional ball yet? All the hype means nothing to me yet. I want to see how he does against "professionals"

Welcome back minor leagues. I, for one among many, missed you.

It sounds like they have a few tweeks and corrections they want to get in before sending him out. But MAN do they sound confident in him. The bolded quote was a new level of bombast that I've never heard from the Yankees when discussing Jasson before. Normally they've been really tempered and level, trying to to stymie the hype train.

                https://www.mlb.com/yankees/news/yan...sson-dominguez

Dominguez will begin the season in extended Spring Training, with a chance of making his professional debut with Low-A Tampa later this year. According to Kevin Reese, the Yankees’ senior director of player development, Dominguez was pulled aside recently for a conversation that outlined the organization’s thinking.

“He had this look on his face, like, ‘What did I do?’” Reese said on Monday afternoon. “We made a joke with him that we heard he snuck out of the hotel. Immediately, without hesitation, he goes: ‘Foul ball! No, no, no, that didn’t happen!’ He’s funny, he’s mature. He took it all in stride, had no issues or questions since. And he’s out there doing his work right now.”
“He’s got a ton of talent, a lot of skill, but he hasn’t played in a ton of games,” Reese said. “We’ll be able to iron out anything that he needs to work through, and then once he gets rolling, I’m sure he’s going to be a steamroller through the Minor Leagues. … I apologize that you have to wait a little bit longer for that mystery to unveil itself, but when it comes, you’ll know.”

First start of the season. Didn't pitch at all last year. Probably was limited to 60 or so pitches.

I surprised none of you guys didn't post anything about Medina. He dominated.

                      4 Innings, 1 Hit, 2 BB, 8 K's.

Thanks for the response. I read all this - just confused as to what he needs to work on, and why he can't work on it at the lowest level. One of the quotes said "later this year" - not in a couple of weeks. I think everyone needs to chill about how great this kid looks since he hasn't even played a pro game yet.

Ezequiel Duran..2B. A scouts Penn league favorite. More selective at the plate, picks up pitch faster out of the pitchers hand. Could work well with his given power

Anthony Volpe.SS Improved foot work much better chance to stay at SS.Low maintenance good contact swing. Plenty of line drive/ Gap power

Austin Wells. c. Loose, easy swing. Good sense of strike zone. Should hit for average and power. Poor lateral movement and avg arm will make it hard to stick as a catcher.

Oswaldo Cabrera SS Looks stronger at the plate and Even more graceful at SS. Should be a fast riser.

Steven Ridings. RHP Signed in January but has been hitting 100 in camp but needs help with breaking stuff.

A 2-out RBI single by Volpe in the 2nd makes it 2-0 #Tarpons. In 14 plate appearances, Volpe has either walked or has put the ball in play (4BB, 5H, 0K).
