    From what i've read he was drafted more for the bat but has progressed as a receiver. He has a good arm but throws from a low arm slot. Most reports are he is a good framer. Good insurance. I'm happy we are signing other catchers then Brantley.

    Yanks sign David Freitas another Catcher who has been around a bit and I'm sure will start in SWB. David has been praised for his handling of a Staff...Nice!! He is 32 but had some nice years in the Lower minors with his bat as well.

    Sands was a real hard worker always there pre game blocking balls and stretching pre game and I think he will still improve. I don’t feel he’s a better a receiver then Duran though. Donny has the better bat but for the position they will fill I think I’d rather Duran. I wouldn’t sleep on Donny though, his work ethic is off the charts.

    I agree. I was hoping the Yankees would non-tender Sanchez and put their analytics guys to use finding a defensive stalwart catcher with perhaps some hidden offensive upside. Doesn't need to mash, but maybe just keep the bat from getting knocked out of his hands. Looks like Duran definitely is the former, and has shown flashes of the latter. Sure can't hurt to have in the system.

    Question for you since you follow mL closer than me... would you rather have Duran, or Sands back?

    Starting last year the Yankees seem to have made a habit of signing and stashing guys like this. They already signed Inciarte to a mL deal too.
