20/20 sounds good, but for a 24 year old in AA, his season really wasn't overly impressive.

According to a family member, Anthony Rizzo is quite eager to return to #Yankees in 2022. That’s an important first step, assuming NYY want him back. Have to assume they do.
Always the best way to drive your price up and say you want to go somewhere. Would expect more of this will come.

He also turned down a 5 year 70 million dollar extension with the Cubs. What's he going to cost?

You're thinking of Man City. Man U hasn't won an EPL trophy since 2012.

I've heard of Manchester United, I had no clue there was a team called Man City until this post.

That's probably because you don't follow Englidh football. Man U are a dysfunctional hot mess of an organization that hasn't been remotely relevant in 9 years. Lot of parallels can be made between the state of the Yankees and Man U. Both have a lousy manager, both have fans that want their owners to sell, and both are perennial underachievers. I mean, what other team would pay 500,000 pounds/week to a soon to be 37 year old. Laughable.

City has won the EPL 3 of the last 4 seasons.

You're right in that I don't follow, watch or know European Football or Soccer as we call it in the states. My point was if you ask a random American to name and EPL team, the ones that do give you an answer that happens to be a real EPL team, the most common answer is going to be Man U.

I suspect if you asked a random British citizen to name a US Baseball team, the ones that actually answer with a real baseball team are most likely to say New York Yankees.

Meh. A poor use of payroll. I want me some Olson.

Since we are talking about soccer, how about Napoli being tied for the league lead in Serie A?

Of course I agree with this. But at 27 yrs old with two years left of team control before free agency (and that might come even sooner under a new CBA) he's got IMMENSE value for a team that is only a few moves away from contending for a division title. The A's would have to be OVERWHELMED to deal him now.

The Yanks would obviously have to overpay to acquire him. That doesn't seem realistic IMO.

“From a source close to Rizzo: he is eager to put pressure on cashman to sign him for a ton of money via ambiguously unverifiable sources, which would otherwise be easily verifiable if he actually wanted to stay in NY, without hurting his value in other markets.
Q: Who’s the guy on your roster that would have been overlooked if not for analytics? Cashman: Ronald Torreyes. He’s an analytical darling.

Same here. Did not know there was another Manchester team.

I think this would be a reasonable contract but I don't think I would do 5 yrs, $70M for Rizzo. I certainly wouldn't do much more. I fear the Yankees will offer him even more.
