It is kind of crazy—the Yankees and Rays have very similar offensive stats as a team, yet the Rays scored almost a full run per game more than the Yankees.

Everything we need is in that room. The players just failed to translate my design into our ultimate goal, a world championship.

Except on the other hand, they were successful! Made the playoffs, you know, 5 years in a row. Not many other teams can say that. It's all a crap shoot anyway. Did the Red Sox make it in 2019 or 2020? Did the Nationals make it in 2020 or 2021? No? Hah! They can't say they made the crapshoot 5 years in a row, but we can.

And oh those injuries. So many injury-prone guys we acquired and/or gave extensions to got injured. You can't plan for bad luck like that. And Covid. It hit us, only us. More bad luck.

The players like and respect Boonie. He relates to them like men, doesn't yell at them or hurt their feelings. If one of them fails to hustle, he makes it clear to them that for that to be OK, they have to feel bad about it. And I can't tell you how good he is at taking the Anna Littucks team's instructions, I mean recommendations.

In the end, if a few things happened differently it would have all been different in the end. We all need to do better, me, Boonie, the players, everyone. And we will. Our goal every year is to win a championship and by staying the course someday we will.

I really wish a reporter would call him out on this. “What would you say to the fans on social media and message boards who have been reciting this speech verbatim for weeks In anticipation of this press conference?”

My gf manages a bunch of hospitals. She was visiting one yesterday and Eovaldi’s mom is a nurse there. She is apparently a very sweet lady and she was almost in tears.

I tried to get her fired.

Q: Who’s the guy on your roster that would have been overlooked if not for analytics? Cashman: Ronald Torreyes. He’s an analytical darling.

I'll admit I'm a bit intrigued by Beltran. He played here and understands the pressure. He might have more name cache and could push back a tiny tiny bit against Cashman's foolishness.

Again, the real solution would be to jettison Cashman & Boone, but as we know that's seemingly impossible since Cashman took over the Steinbrenner family name.

Any chance Cashman realizes his plan is not working and may change?

                  Can they get both Seagers?

The standard B-ref numbers that jump off the page are: 98 more doubles/triples (323-225) and fewer than half the GIDPs (154-75. Yankee total was league high, Rays total was league low). Not sure how to "genetically engineer" for those stats but having a younger more athletic lineup would seem to be a candidate.

                      1. Sell high on Stanton.
                      2. Trade for Jose Ramirez
                      3. Sign Correa.
                      4. Trade Gallo, Gleyber, Urshela, Gary (lol), Hicks (lol).
                      5. Sign Marte

Kept saying that the current approach doesn’t work and that they have to reinvent how to construct the team. Also talked about how Cashman needs to either chart a change of course or bring someone in who can help him, realizing that Cashman is part of the Yankee family and is unlikely to be cut loose. All good stuff IMO.
Any word from any of these talking heads on the absolute failure in the drafting and development departments? Or are they only capable of grasping free agency and trades?

If he's awful and only has one year of team control left, why would a rebuilding Pirates team trade their single best asset and guy they can start to build around (not a FA until 2026) for him plus the ghost of Gleyber Torres? The Pirates have been known to make a bad trade or two, and I do think the Yankees would make this trade without blinking, but I think the Pirates would hang up immediately.

He is on mine as well, but I'm a greedy SOB. Add Jose Ramirez to that list. You've massively upgraded the infield already, and you can use chips to acquire a 1B if you don't want to go the FA route with Rizzo there (although I'd love him or Freeman as well).

The Yankees reset the CBT. Time to go ALL IN. Or tear it all down. Which is a hymn many of us sang before Cole. Yes, get Cole. But FINISH THE ROSTER. Or, reboot.

If one of them is Bob and the other one is Pete, yeah, probably.

If people can dream about trading Gallo, Stanton and Chapman, I can dream about a package of Seagers.

Even if my dream is against the wind.
