Correa’s 127 OPS+ is coincidentally the same as Rizzo’s career OPS+
He’s aging well.
It's my belief that 127 OPS+ as short is a bit different than 127 OPS+ as first.
And for what it's worth, I'd like the Yankees to hold onto Rizzo too. I think he's perfect for Yankee Stadium.

Ketel is not a good CF'er based on the fielding metrics I have seen.
Definitely has struggled there, but has the athleticism to improve and be average. Great contact hitter, bats left (and right), and hits for high average. Something this team needs.

For the price Arizona will demand, I expect a finished product with above-average defensive skills in CF. No thanks.
I don't even see CF as a primary need if they're willing to allow Judge/Gallo to rotate at that spot, get Stanton in RF as often as possible and make Hicks a 4th OF.

I agree that if he cost a boatload then he better be a finished product. I might be wrong, but I don't think his price will be that high. He had a disappointing 2020 short season (many players did), defensive woes as mentioned, and also got hurt this year when DBacks were dangling him on the market.
Starling Marte would be my first choice if he didn't have PED concerns, longer commitment, along with a more advanced age.
I personally dont want to see Gallo on this team again, but if Cashman is insistent on having him back, then yeah he should be playing CF. That then sadly opens up 400 AB for Gardner in LF since we know they won't play Stanton primarily in the filed.

If they still have the appetite to add payroll after addressing bigger gaps at C, 1B and SS, then sure they should pursue an upgrade in CF but in order of preference, SS, 1B and C must come first.
A permanent CF also pretty much boxes Stanton into the DH spot for good unless they move Gallo.
For now, any configuration that allows Stanton to play at least 80 games a year in the OF, with Gallo and Judge rotating in CF, is their best option IMO.
It allows Stanton the opportunity to be a far better hitter based on what we saw when he played the OF in 2021. More importantly, it limits Hicks to part-time duty which is far better than having him start in CF every day with Garnder as your plan B. Problem is, Cashman isn't wired to think that way as we saw this season.

I see Hicks just got engaged to Tiger Woods Niece and she is a golfer and he asked her while they were on the golf course. He even was her caddie. The Yankees should tell him while you are out for the year to stay the heck off the golf course or void his contract.
Ratso Rizzo- I am a happy camper today. I do believe he wants to finish his career here (see linky). Been saying I want him since he got here.
They will work something out, he'll give them some kind of $ break .
Say good bye to Urshela and Voit as DJ is your new 3rd baseman .
What to with shortstop? Depends on whether they can pay another big salary bec they will want to sign Judgie long term. Simmons or Volpe if they feel he is ready soon.
Anyway, time to get ready for UM-MSU on Saturday since baseball for 2021 is over.

Here's the problem with not addressing CF: Hicks will get hurt, and Gardner will end up being the everyday CF'er. They're simply not going to play Stanton in the outfield on a regular basis. They really should be looking for an upgrade at CF and relegate Hicks to 4th OF'er. But alas, that's not going to happen. Cashman is going to pretend that Hicks is going to be healthy all year and that Gardner still has another season of good baseball left in him.
David Ortiz tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in 2003.
I realize the guys are not in that room right now, because the Yankees got crapshot by a super hot Red Sox team, but I still thing the Yankees go with that group of guys to be back in that room.
I mean,
At catcher - Gary really showed improvement behind the plate and especially with a bat in his hands. All you need to do is compare 2021 to the last two years. Light years better. If they get the robo pitch calling there will be no need for him to badly try to frame pitches, so a major plus.
At 1B - I don't look for Rizzo to be signed. He'll cost way too much for a team that can't afford ball boys down the lines. So it'll be DJ or maybe a crafty pick up by the wise Cash Man.
At 2B - All set, Gley can handle that position quite well as evidenced by the last two weeks of 2021.
At SS - Here is where the Cash Man has that little wiggle room. If he can't find a gem in the rough at 1B, he can pivot and get that gem at SS. If not - hey Gio was a superstar at SS when asked to play there.
At 3B - Look it's Gio or DJ. Boom. A no brainer. With DJ back from his bad 2021 we have our All Star MVP.
OF is more than set. With Judge in RF and Gallo in LF (now knowing how to excel as a Yankee) and Hicks manning CF AND the 3 spot in the order we are golden. When you also add the amazing Gardner as the backup OFer playing 150 games with the grit and attitude of the 2009 Yankees you know all is great.
Pitching is in even better shape.
As for the SPs - you know all the worry about the SPs not having pitched in 2-3 years that all came true in 2021, well that's all behind us now and clearly the oft-injured starters are all due for a non-injury filled season. So all set there.
RP - Best in the game.
Now all we need is 2-3 part-time TV analysts to come on board to fill out the coaching vacancies and we are ready to defend our 2nd Wild Card title.
Have they announced when they will be raising the 2021 2nd Wild Card Flag next season. Hopefully not opening day. You could easily get another huge gate if it was after opening day.
Another 3-4 number retirements could also boost ticket sales. Hal needs the money.

The problem with using Cashman's flawed mindset to explain why they will play Hicks in CF over a rotation of Judge/Gallo, is that it's the same mindset that will prevent Cashman from looking for an upgrade from Hicks: he doesn't believe he needs one and since he committed 7 years to him, he's going to double-down and die on that sword.
