From a value perspective I think Eduardo Rodriguez is the best value in this FA pitching market given his durability and track record.
I’d go trade market otherwise. Luis Castillo would be ideal, along with a few others (Montas, Manaea, Marquez, etc)

I certainly can envision Seager in Yankee pinstripes, but 10 yrs scares the hell out of me. I think the most I'd go is 7 yrs - and even that's a stretch for me. I really dislike any long-term contract over 5 years, just in principle.
Yea if I’m giving out 10 years, I think it has to be Correa who can stay at SS longer term. Seager is a GREAT player who I’d definitely love to see in pinstripes but 10 years or 300M is a little too rich in my opinion. I’d go to 8 years for Seager though before shifting “down market”

All these writers saying Cashman will go after Seager. Sure he will make an offer but once Seager signs with another team we will hear the standard Cashman excuses. Meanwhile Brian will go hard after a pitcher who has pitched 1 game since 2019 and might have been using the same sticky stuff as Cole. Can't wait for the Gardner re-signing come February. And Sanchez will still be the #1 catcher.

Also they need to add another top starter who could give you innings. Otherwise the rotation would have the same problem just like last season. Verlander and Severino had just pitched 12 innings combined for the last two season. Penciling them as your No.2 and 3 starters is disaster waiting to happen.

I doubt Murphy is available or if so it’d take a king’s ransom. Montas is another to add if we’re dealing with the A’s.
Would love another LHP in Manaea along with Montgomery in the rotation.
Roberto Perez would be an idea sign IMO on a short 2 year deal to bridge the gap to Wells if he ever develops his catching skills.

Q: Who’s the guy on your roster that would have been overlooked if not for analytics? Cashman: Ronald Torreyes. He’s an analytical darling.

So, one of the proposed moves is to sign a Simmons-like stopgap until Volpe or Peraza is ready, which I think is horrible. I feel like signing Seager, with the expectation he could move to 3rd for one of the young guys is perfectly acceptable. During a player contract , we tend to judge whether it’s worth it by whether he continues to rake and less on defense. If he signed, whatever, 9/260…moved to 3rd in a year or two but hit well throughout, that’s probably worth it.

Correa may not age well in 5 years and Story is largely a product of Coors."Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever." - Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)
