Unfortunately 100% correct. Expect the announcement around February 1st.

Sidenote: can someone check in with Oppenheimer to see if he got any congratulatory texts about drafting Holder today?

If I had to take a guess, I think if they cut him, they wouldn't get insurance money.

So true. Plus Hicks isn't going anywhere. They'll sign Gardner as the 4th OF'er who will play every day at the expense of either Gallo, Judge, or Stanton. Then when Hicks gets injured Gardner will reclaim his starting CF job for the rest of the season.

                  My Yankee package:

Luke Voit, Gleyber Torres, Domingo German and

A's can pick one: Dominguez, Volpe or Peraza
A's can pick one: Gill or Medina
A's can pick one: Andujar, Frazier or Garcia

Thats six pretty talented players - three everyday players and three pitchers with
high ceilings, low cost, and years of control - that might be more attractive to the A's than we think.

Yanks get two yrs of control for Olson and one year for a much-needed lefty TOR starter in Manaea.

Can the Yankee organization recover from losing 6 very good players in this trade? IMO all names mentioned are expendable.
Can this Yankee offer be beat? That's not something the organization can control. The question is, what are they willing to offer?

Is this an over-pay? An under-pay? IMO it strengthens the 2022 roster and doesn't compromise future player development . Two acknowledged weaknesses, 1B, & TOR starter become strengths. Also, in a bigger picture it opens up a couple of roster spots - which is important and has value.

Couple this potential deal with the acquisition of a star shortstop (plug in your preference, cost being secondary) and we might be looking at an AL East contender.

Sounds like an 80s Steinbrenner trade

It's already been deleted. I'd take it with a grain of salt.

I shared my thoughts on these "pick one" scenarios. These players *should* all have distinct and unique values to the organization and shouldn't be in a grab bag. For example, your first pick one scenarios... Peraza doesn't have the ceiling of Ja$$on, but he could make his debut next season whereas Dominguez is likely years away (and a lot can go wrong over those years).

Second, as desperately as I'd like them to obtain Olson, I think that package is too much.

Exactly, the offense was a big issue. This defensive scenario weakens the offense. No thanks

I think Verlander signs back with the Astros or goes to the West Coast.

His wife is Kate Upton. She might like the NY scene for what it could do for her career. Just spit-balling here though.
