I see and understand all the brouhaha, wishes, etc. about Olson. Still, I don't see the degrading of Rizzo, even for three to four more years, esp. if by $$$ we can save our tradable minor-league package for the likes of the CF like a Reynolds whom we truly need in my opinion. The stats are in Olson's favor, of course, since he's the young stud on the block, so to speak. But Rizzo's career, as I interpret it, at least allows for some second thoughts re any comparison between the two, even for the next two or three years. His defense at 1B remains one of the best around. I just wish we don't fall into Billy Beane's consistently wise GM clutches. Moreover, Rizzo's no "ancient" at 32 years old. At that age, Jeter had six-to-seven more very productive offensive years.
Olson (6 ML years):
AB R H RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS
2048 323 517 373 272 555 .252 .348 .511 .859
Rizzo (11 ML years):
5113 762 1372 814 661 945 .268 .369 .481 .850

On that note, Twitter is buzzing that the Yankees have made a formal offer to Verlander . Looks like Cashman is determined to completely screw up the off-season ASAP.

It's a significant blunder on his part. He alienated the fanbase of the richest franchise in the sport, which suggests a larger issue of poor impulse control.

Spending $20+ million a year on a 39-year-old power pitcher dependent of spider tack and recovering from major elbow surgery is literally one of the very worse ways Cashman could spend that money. 🤦♂"Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever." - Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)

He also didn't have to act like he did after the cheating scandle. He sought that out too and in a huge media market like NY where they will find reasons to antagonize you if it will sell papers and you are already hated it seems like two trains going towards each other full speed ahead."Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever." - Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)
