I haven’t posted much lately, but reading the threads. Do other posters keep getting the message”504 error gateway time out” in the middle of reading things??

Maybe lots of "gentlemen's agreements/rumors" in December."Somebody once asked me if I ever went up to the plate trying to hit a home run. I said, 'Sure, every time.'" -- Mickey Mantle

IMO the players union should also be extremely sensitive to the importance of getting a CBA in place before January.

If history teaches us anything, I fully expect the owners and MLBPA to fudge this up in every way possible."Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever." - Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)

They had a chance to be the only sport on tv during the summer of 2020, but couldn’t stop bickering in the press. This is the only chance for either side to get major media time, of course they’ll take full advantage

I know baseball attendance never fully came back this year. What about other sports? Every other one is in their regular season now. Are crowds back to normal?

Ok,boys...holiday is over, back to speculating the hot stove.
The Athletic has a piece on each team, as to which 1 player they are likely to get.
I'll include just the Yankee case, since it is a premium article:
Corey Seager, SS
The smoke emanating from The Bronx, as reported earlier this week by Joel Sherman of the New York Post, is that the Yankees have not yet jumped with both feet into the deep end of the shortstop pool. Given the depth of this class, waiting for the price to drop on one of the infielders makes sense, even if just signing Seager might make more sense. Seager offers the left-handed-hitting prowess the Yankees lineup lacks, and he can hit enough to retain value if he has to shift into a corner infield position.
Ya Gotta Believe!!!

I remember reading somewhere that attendance and concessions only account for about 40% of the organization's total revenues (retail sales & RSN revenues make up most of the remaining 60%, I think) and ultimately expenses are subtracted to leave profits.
A strike would not only affect attendance and concessions, but the other 60% is also reduced.
Hopefully both sides of these negotiations understand that greed and power are the downfalls of humanity (IMO).
