Nothing matters if Boone is back. He's proven incapable of any kind of bullpen management and lost when it comes from getting players to excel. If for whatever reason Boone retained, the team won't even make the playoffs I bet. Obviously Cashman needs to get lost too, but boy if BOTH him and Boone come back... lol.

Judge Hicks Stanton DJ Cole could be making a combined $115M+ in 2024. I doubt any of these players are going to be great and healthy then. We are going to be in for tough times soon. Either go all in now (big short term signings & aggressive trades) or reset (my preference).Let's Go Yankees!

This was more or less exactly what I thought was going to happen when they were able to navigate that one really tough 52-game stretch at around .500. I knew that would be enough because they would likely play over .500 after that and sneak into the playoffs. It is a true worst-case scenario. This team never had a prayer of winning a championship. So long as Brian Cashman is GM, they will never win another title. He has proven to be incapable of constructing a championship team without being handed HOF and borderline HOF players and/or wildly outspending everyone.

He also has a slight arrogance to him which is a bit off considering he's won virtually nothing, homerun derby notwithstanding.

They have to think how to deal with Torres situation. DJL best position is 2B. Gio best position is 3B. By moving Torres to 2B and forcing DJL to play 3B and Gio to play SS, they downgrade the whole infield defense. Given that they also likely wouldn't keep Rizzo and Sanchez is still the catcher, the defense is just a disaster waiting to happen.

Too many local media members are embedded with Cashman and his organization. Ian O'Connor is one of them.

Joel Sherman appears to have posted a critical article, but it's on the NYP paid section and I'm not paying to read it because it's the NYP. Anyhow, the headline is what caught my eye, "The Yankees Con is finally Up". That's exactly what Hal and Cashman have been pushing as they have regressed from 2017, while the competition has become stronger.Last edited by Yankees1962; 10-06-21, 06:20 AM.NYYFANS: See you on the other side!

Frankly I'm insulted at this concept of grabbing some random ballplayer-turn-espn-analyst and making him the manager of a mlb team.

There were no real standout reasons to get rid of girardi other than his “shelf life “. There’s dozens of reasons to move on from Boone. If they renew his contract there’s no way I can withstand another season of this crap.
also highly ironic that cashmans shelf life reason for dismissing girardi is exactly why cashman needs to goListen to the bell Grossbard, it tolls for thee.

I'm really hoping the hype about the Mets closing in on a deal with Theo Epstein is true. I know he would have some title other than GM but who cares, the media loves a narrative and Theo head to head with Cashman in the same city would be an irresistible angle. The contrast will be stark, too: Theo's story of success in two "cursed" franchises; Cashman's faded glory from the days when he could caretake a dynasty built by others continuing to fade, fade under the weight of all the arrogance, blunders and general mismanagement as the window of 2017 slams shut for the final time.
That's one media narrative that the master con man won't be able to manipulate, no matter how many flunkies he has in his service trying just that. I hate, hate to say it because it's going to suck for a while for those of us with Mets fans in our lives, but Let's Go Mets. We need massive crowds in Citi and tumbleweeds blowing through YS, a true 1980s-style blue and orange takeover of New York City, if there's going to be any hope that the inherited-money mint julep sucking horse farm guy in Tampa is ever going to understand what needs to be done.I hid in the clouded wrath of the crowd, when they said "sit down" I stood up.

I know that he interviewed for the position before Boone was given the nod, but I reckon that Cone would do a great job (given the considered nature of his commentary on YES). But I also imagine that he wouldn’t - in any way - fit the “yes man” mould that Cashman would be looking for (if he, Cashman, stays, but Boone goes).

I thought Cone's commentary was a lot more Flaherty-like this year (meaning not memorable for much other than frequent praise for players and the FO), seems like an indicator he might be under serious consideration.
I am not a big fan of "nostalgia hires" (bring back former great beloved by fans, he will lead us back to glory!), those hardly ever work. They're great PR and short term criticism deflectors for the organization, though.I hid in the clouded wrath of the crowd, when they said "sit down" I stood up.
