Ok, I'm back to obsessing over an Olson/Manaea deal. Get them both and sign Trevor Story, and the Yanks become a division contender along with the Jays/Rays/Sox.
Since the A's traded Bassitt - does that mean that they're about to clean house?
What's it going to cost the Yanks to get one year of Sean Manaea?
He's projected to throw about 160 innings if he's healthy. He'll give up a HR every 9 innings or so, and he'll walk less then 3 per 9IP also. I think he's projected to make about $10M in arbitration
I think he fits in the rotation well, especially as a lefty. If he's in the rotation, then Nester Cortes isn't - which I'm fine with. I think Nester can be the Ramiro Mendoza of this club. - a valuable swing man that can be put in several roles.
You have to figure an Olson-Manaea deal is seriously being discussed by both clubs. The A's is reportedly insisting on Volpe in any Olson deal. That's where Cashman must answer "ok we'll include Volpe and some other pieces (Gleyber, Voit, German, Gill or Medina, Andujar?) but you need to include Manaea."
.
One-stop shopping and then signing Trevor Story seems like it could/should be done."Somebody once asked me if I ever went up to the plate trying to hit a home run. I said, 'Sure, every time.'" -- Mickey Mantle

I think they were a better team than what their offensive results showed."Somebody once asked me if I ever went up to the plate trying to hit a home run. I said, 'Sure, every time.'" -- Mickey Mantle

IMO there's some truth to this. The Yankee offense certainly stuttered and struggled scoring runs throughout the whole season.
