Yup LA going back to back would get to them more as LA out spent us.

Red Sox really are not a good team. If they get by the Astros and Dodgers/Giants, then I will fully believe the playoffs make zero sense. If the Yankees won 1 more game and got the home field vs the Sox, this could have been us beating the Rays. But the regular season doesn't matter to Cashman.

Us playing the Rays would have been way different then Boston. And home field vs Boston i doubt in the WC would have mattered.

Why? Red Sox legit stumbled into the playoffs. Red Sox are tough at home in the post season. I believe having a 1 game playoff in the Bronx would have mattered.

No. Chaim Bloom put togther a better team than Cashman did. We finished 3rd. not a crapshoot.

Never mind Kriske. They protected Estrada instead of Whitlock and then Cashman promptly sold Estrada a few weeks later.

Both of Stantons hits would have been out in yankee stadium.

I do not think that bothers Hal at all or Cashman. They believe in the process which is keep the team in the playoff hunt to sell seats.

The Yankees need good starters Besides Cole and him finding a way to cope without pine tar. Tampa lost because they did not have a starter like Glasnow who is not going to be back for a long time yet.

The Yankees need to sign Ray but only if a decent price and not over pay. to have Cole/Ray/Monty/Sevy/Tallion rotation would be good and you can have German in the pen along with Gil and the guys we already have.

You win the post season with good starting pitching just look at the teams left besides the Sox they all have top starting pitching.
Wow, Seager/Correa, Freeman, #2 starter, Judge's impending free agency in 2023. I wonder where all this money is going to come from?

look at Boston tampa. Boston limped in to the WC just like Yankees, being swept at home by those Yankees, losing 2-3 to Baltimore and having to come back from 5-0 deficit to a Nats team that quit at tge deadline and threw a kid in his MLB debeut played 530 ball in the 2nd half and lost 11 of the final 15 meetings with Tampa this year. While Tampa won 100 games, had the best run differential in the AL, and played 653 ball in the 2nd half and yet Boston will be playing the next round not Tampa.

as for 04 didn’t Giambi have some weird injury that year that kept him out? I’m not making excuses, I’m just saying in nearly every series that is 4-3 or 3-2, you can probably find 1 or 2 plays that could swing the outcome.
Freak injury to Olerud was the real killer.

There is no way the 2021 NYY ever could have taken the 2021 Rays. We were 8-11 against them, but they outscored us 98-50 on the year.
Mariano Rivera was so great he was able to close a Denny's.

I really think Yankees would have won the WC game if played at YS. Probably would have lost to the Rays in the DS.

Giants are really good. If they get by the Dodgers, it wouldn't shock me to see them go all the way.

The Red Sox won the winner take all WC 6-2
I'd hardly call that dominating the Yankees but yes the Red Sox are one game away from the ALCS while the Yankees are contimplating what went wrong this season.
We have been doing a lot of season end contemplating lately, while the Sox are contemplating who they will be playing in the ALCS. When will it ever be our turn to get to a WS?

While we are wishing why not wish we had a left fielder and center fielder like the Red Sox have. Guys who can actually get base hits instead of old men and strikeout machines. In fact, if the Red Sox are actually rebuilding why not sign every guy that they get rid of. Whoever they are would definitely be better than what we've got.
