Boone or Boone .2. Nothing changes as long as Cashman is the GM.

IDK - this is the same FO and ownership that produced B2B 100 win seasons in the not to distant past they spent $324M on the best FA pitcher on the market.

I realize we as Yankee fans have higher expectation but real futility and uncaring ownership looks more like this...
Arizona - since beating the Yankees in G7 back in 01 they have been to the playoffs 4 times.
Baltimore - since winning the WS in 1983 they have made the playoffs just 5 times
Cinncinati - since winng the WS in 1990 - 5 playoff apperanaces
Colorado - 1 WS appearnace in franchise history with just 5 appearances on playoffs
Angels - despite having the best player in the game, managed to make 1 playoff appearance since 2009
Mets - since winning in 86, 6 playoff appearances, 2 of which ended in WS losses. This despite being in the largest market in the US, just like the Yankees.
Pirates, couple good teams here and there that get broken up for $ then sell off good parts for pennies on the dollar. At least the A's sell offs keep them in the "crapshoot" even if they treat their fans like crap.
San Diego - I guess you can say they are trying, at least they stoke Tatis for Shields. LOL
Seattle - Enjoy those 116 wins in 2001, haven't seen the playoff since.
Toronto - they seem to be trending in the right direct these days but they did go 21 year without even making the playoffs after winning it all B2B in 1992 & 1993.
        Baseball is life;
        the rest is just details.

Boone if he comes back needs to call out the players more after the game and not baby them and they need to change the team. Get rid of money on RP and invest in a totr #2 starter.

But the Yankees are built to put on a show for the fans and score a lot of runs and hope the pitching holds up. This works somewhat during the season but ends badly in the playoffs.

The Yankees have big money in RP that cold have went to a #2 starter. Monty is a okay #4 so is Tallion German etc and Sevy is a #3. But you need a second horse to carry the load like Boston does with EVO AND SALE and how Toronto does with Barrios and Ryu even if they lose Ray.

If they bring back the same garbage of slow running bad defense and Cole or bust nothing will change.
A "totr #2 starter"? Hell, they need a totr #1 starter!

Good points. I’d keep an eye out for the teams purchased in the last decade- Houston, KC, Dodgers, Miami and the Mets. Houston and LA are there. We’ll see about the rest.

The oldest ownership group is from 1973, and nothing is close to them in length of ownership.

LOL. I'm a Raiders fan and I was joking around on twitter about that. That there has to be some Gruden like Cashman e-mails out there. Someone needs to find them. Someone replied with that Daily Mail article from Jan 8th 2013 with those Cashman allegations with his mistress her mother etc...

I didn't post the link because I never followed that case closly. But some of the stuff in there it it were true is pretty bad...

If someone gives me permission I'll post it...

Boone, much like Girardi is just following orders. Replacing Boone with a Boone 2.0 doesn't really accomplish anything.
This is why I say (or at least one reason) replace Cashman. Having Cashman choose the next manager, he's just going to bring in a Boone clone. The entire philosophy of the team needs to change and that starts at Cashman. Change the head of the snake in order to make any significant changes.

I'm thinking the whole off season plan - which needs to have lots of options and contingencies - will be in place when the new CBA sets the market by establishing a floor and a ceiling for spending. There might be an internal struggle between the owners - small market vs. big market.

I'm quite hopeful the organization will realize that payroll must go up by 10%-20% to help with re-tooling this roster. I guess December will be a very active month.

Reading all of this and examining it all - it's all very tiresome. It's exhausting to think about.

This year, there is a chance they spend that much.

Especially when, ya know, nothing OFFICIAL, has been announced by the Yankees. Otherwise, just hearsay and rumor.
More people have walked on the moon than have scored an earned run off of Mariano Rivera in the postseason.

What do you think is going to happen that differs in any significant way from the past few years? The press is already spinning away, Hal is blaming the players, Cashgod is untouchable and you've got an almost assured re-hire of Boone.

You'll hear about the lack of payroll flexibility next and how they expect Severino to give them 180+ innings this year.

(I can almost hear the distant repetitive echos of how Greg Bird has the best swing Brian Cashman has ever seen..)

It's the same predictable pattern year in and out - no need for them to "announce" a thing.
