Not only have they not shown it, I don't believe they feel it. I think they believe they're doing a great job just getting admittance to the "crapshoot."

As Maya Angelou would say, when someone shows you who they are, believe them.

And "this sort of thing happens all the time, especially in politics" is not a persuasive counter-argument, sorry. This isn't politics. Cashman only needs one vote to get reelected and Hal doesn't need any.

One of two things will happen:

      1) They get a 1B. Shift DJL 3B. Urshela SS. Gley 2B
      2) They get a SS. Shift DJL 1B. Urshela 3B (doesn't hit enough). Gley 2B (worse at 2B than SS)

...I'd bet more on the latter. IMO, they need a SS, 1B, 3B. That's what is needed to make this team legitimate, and you aren't getting that under this regime.
Yep. My money is on the latter (option 2).

I don’t see how any team can do anything without knowing the new CBA.

I think we can all agree with what many posters fear/feel/assume will happen:

          1) Cashman will play the "big talk" game about getting a SS, when there are at a minimal THREE top tier guys on the market this off-season.

          2) Cashman WONT sign any of them and either go with a second or third tier guy, or someone on a downward path in career siting things like a player being "too far apart in negotiations" "lack of interest" "pivoting in a different direction" or "we have guys internally who are going to play a big impact"

          3) He will also not make any move on getting Rizzo back in the fold and move DJL there.

          4) Gardner will break out whatever naked photos he has of Cashman and get another 1-year deal.

There will be no changes to the lineup, we will once again be filled with "big hairy monsters" who are HR or K, with no average.

Oh and forget pitching, spend money....whats that.......Cole/Sevy/Monty/scrap heap1/scrap heap 2

I've been saying this for a while now. This might be a painfully slow-moving off season. I think the biggest issues will be between the owners (big market/small market) trying to agree with a payroll floor and ceiling.

Gardner already has a deal for 2022, so he can keep the nude photos in storage until 2023.

No matter they're big market owners or small market owners, all of them wouldn't argue about the payroll floor and ceiling. They wouldn't even think about it. Any sort of payroll floor would mean that they need to open their book which would be the last thing they want to disclose.

I can't wait for Cashman to brag about how disciplined he was in not overpaying for players they desperately need and keeping Hal's payroll low.
Q: Who’s the guy on your roster that would have been overlooked if not for analytics? Cashman: Ronald Torreyes. He’s an analytical darling.

The best part of letting Rizzo walk will be that we get to be heavily right handed again. Because shift or something.

Yankees may need Gardner cause Hicks is made out of glass.

I would let Rizzo walk - his best years are behind him.
They'll get far better production along with elite D trading for Olson, a player Oakland will likely be looking to move this winter.

Of course, that requires effort so it won't happen. Cashman will take the lazy way out and move his best 2B to 1B so they become weaker at both positions.

I like Olson and he would mash at YS with his LH bat. They need to clear some 40 man roster spots and should use these prospects and get a deal done...They should also try to land Manaea as well. Might take a Volpe/Peraza to get a deal done.

No need for Gardner to break out the incriminating photos. He has a player option for next year. He'll be back. Everything else is spot on.

This is a given and precisely why they should sign Marte. Hicks cannot be counted on to stay healthy and therefore should not be anything more than a 4th OF'er. They can always find a guy like Greg Allen to cover that role when Hicks gets hurt. Unfortunately he'll be pencilled in at CF, so the outfield will Gallo/Hicks/Judge until Hicks gets hurt, and then Gardner becomes the starting CF'er for yet another season.

Someone should really tell Cashman that Gallo and Judge can both play CF. Then we'll break the news about Stanton playing a corner.
Even if they for some reason don't want play Stanton in the OF, the correct and most efficient use of resources is to get a corner OF that can hit- because they're a lot cheaper than a CF that can hit. Then play Judge or Gallo in CF.
