I hid in the clouded wrath of the crowd, when they said "sit down" I stood up.

Joel's 1st base options(It's free)
What he called the “dream” option is Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman. The 31-year-old will be a free agentafter the World Series. But chances are the Braves re-sign the 2020 National League MVP.
Up next is for Sherman is Oakland A’s slugger Matt Olson. The 27-year-old set career highs with 39 home runs 111 RBI this season, and he’s under team control through 2023. But, and this is a big but, Olson would require a trade to change teams.
Failing on those two fronts, Sherman said “the Yanks can do far worse than retaining Rizzo’s high-contact bat and defense.”
After coming over from the Chicago Cubs before the July 30 trade deadline, the 32-year-old Rizzo hit .249 with eight home runs in 49 games. His Gold Glove defense and ability to take advantage of the short porch in right field make him a natural fit for the Yankees. But Rizzo will be looking for a nine-figure contract and Sherman thinks the Yankees might be better off signing a big-name free-agent shortstop like Houston Astros’ Carlos Correa.
If Cashman goes 0-for-3, Sherman thinks he can fall back on DJ LeMahieu and/or Joey Gallo. One thing that’s clear is Sherman doesn’t think Voit is part of the solution.
Voit cannot be on a team that has a primary DH such as Giancarlo Stanton. The NL likely will have a DH next year, though a collective bargaining agreement that brings that change probably will not be in place by Dec. 1. So trading Voit will not be easy and a non-tender might be in play.
Sherman also believes it’s time for the Yankees to move on from Clint Frazier and Gary Sanchez.
Cashman made it very clear earlier this week he is ready to reshape the roster for 2022. Whether he follows Sherman’s suggestions remains to be seen.

Here is MLB Pipeline’s scouting report on Wells:
Though Wells is a shaky receiver with a below-average arm and elbow problems that began in high school, the Yankees are impressed with the initial work he’s done with their instructors remotely. They believe he can add enough polish to stay behind the plate, but scouts outside the organization believe he’ll follow the Kyle Schwarber path and wind up in left field or first base. He runs well enough to handle the outfield and could maximize his offensive production at a less demanding position than catcher.
