So who was given up for Soto?

Based on the above, it looks like Schmidt is one of the guys, along with some top-rated Minor League folks.

Did it list a full bench, or only a starting lineup? Trying to figure our if Wells was included, along with Perazza.

Here is what they proposed in the article:
How about a deal with Schmidt, Pereira and starting pitcher Clayton Beeter for Soto, Cronenworth and cash?
I doubt that's enough to get it done but I would make that deal.

Here is what they projected as the bench:
        • Jake Cronenworth, INF
        • Austin Wells, C
        Manuel Margot, OF
        • Oswald Peraza, INF

I don't get the obsession with Margot but he's frequently injured and right handed so the rumors of Cashman targeting him are probably true.

I agree. Replace Periera in that deal with Dominquez or add Wells to it and SD probably has interest. But that package as is seems light and SD likely to have better offers.

Yeah, I think the writer is overrating Peireira. I wouldn't trade Dominguez for a 1 year rental. Wells maybe, but only because Soto is an elite talent.

If cronenworth is coming in (which I could see the padres wanting to do - tie the bad contract to Soto), I have to think Torres would be going out somewhere to cancel out the money. I'd also be surprised if they could get Soto without giving up King.

No way Judge bats in front of Soto if they get him. Soto is an on base machine and Judge would have 150 RBI on the club.

                    Thanks for the answer.

I agree, that package seems quite light for Soto, even with the erroneous salary of Cronenworth added in. Especially if the Yankees are also receiving cash to offset some of the added payroll.

I would rather Florial instead of Margot, but that's just me.

Yeah it's a tough call on including Dominguez. But if you want Soto, the package needs to be better than mid/back end starter, maybe average MLB CF if he works out, and starter with potential but totally unproven.

I mean I guess if someone wanted to take Soto and one of their mega deals in Boegarts, Machado or Tatis, where I'm sure you can get a prospect discount for taking on big money. I just don't see the Yankees being the Team to do that.

Maybe a team like the Angles that are losing Ohtani might be interested in taking a flier they could sign Soto while acquiring another top end bat. But I can't see the yanks committing to ~$30m/1year for Soto and taking on a 9+ year contract at big money also. Not with Hal having a de facto cap.

On a team as lightly hitting as were last year's edition of the Yankees? I hesitate on that. In late April, Kiermaier will turn 34. Surely his wheels will also soon be turning less quickly.
The Athletic projected changes : Soto,Yamamoto,Kermaier. Kermaier has had some physical problems and is 34. I agree with the the other 2. I dont like DJ leading off ,too slow, not likely to have high on base % at his age. I would hope Volpe by next season has adjusted to a better rate in that area.

Someone posted that this morning which started the Soto trade discussion talk.

I'd be thrilled if they wind up with Soto and Yamamoto, but I'm skeptical of them getting either let alone both.

Heard on a national show today that the LAD might have interest in Trout.
would he be worth a package that includes Stanton and Torres and a couple other guys?

Now this I assume is just for clicks but it's the first time I am reading Yankees want to sign both:
The Yankees and San Francisco Giants are widely viewed as the co-favorites now to sign free-agent center fielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger. The Yankees would love to have Bellinger and Juan Soto roaming their outfield, while the Giants would also like to also have free-agent Matt Chapman playing third base for them.
