Sure would like to see this man start realizing he's healthy enough to go all-out for 6 innings every time he starts. Perhaps he's had a problem trusting himself. He needs to stay aggressive every inning. I hope Cole is teaching him that."Somebody once asked me if I ever went up to the plate trying to hit a home run. I said, 'Sure, every time.'" -- Mickey Mantle

If Taillon can pretty consistently get 15-18 outs each time out - I'm good with him leading the back part of the rotation."Somebody once asked me if I ever went up to the plate trying to hit a home run. I said, 'Sure, every time.'" -- Mickey Mantle

Injuries impact performance though. He may never again be the same pitcher he was prior to the injuries and surgery. Fortunately he seems to be turning a corner. The turnaround in his last 5 starts has been pretty dramatic so I'm wondering what, if anything he is doing differently, or is it just a matter of him being further removed from surgery and rehab.
He wasn't merely recovering from surgery - he had to change how he pitches so he can protect that elbow.
Just my $0.02 but I think he's best suited as a spot-starter/long-reliever - similar to Michael King's current role."Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever." - Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)

Taillon makes $2,250,000. If he can have a 4.50 ERA in 5 innings per start, he's worth more than that next year, which is his last possible arbitration year. Judge, Sanchez, Urshela, Taillon, Green, Montgomery, and Cessa have their last possible arbitration year next year. That's two starting pitchers, two relievers who can pitch multiple innings, and three hitters who have all been very good at times including our best hitter.

Many are overlooking that Taillon rebuilt his mechanics from scratch after his second TJS.

Taillon to the 10-day IL, retroactive to Sep 7, with a right ankle tendon injury.
Sal Romano called up, and Jonathan Davis DFA'ed to make room on the 40-man roster for Romano.
