He pitched 5 scoreless innings. He had 50 pitches in the first 2 innings. The turning point was a 4 pitch fourth inning, and the Yankees scored 2 runs after that. He allowed 3 singles, 2 walks, and 1 reached on an error by Torres. He had 5 strikeouts and threw 84 pitches that included 57 strikes, which is 67.9 percent. Baltimore went 0-7 with runners in scoring position.

I hope he can get another start. Looked pretty good.

Looks like hitters couldn't really pick up his fastball. Would like to see him getting another chance.

Got 18 outs in 5 innings, great job. Could have gone 6 except for the swiss cheese at 2B.
I hid in the clouded wrath of the crowd, when they said "sit down" I stood up.

Agreed. I was really impressed by Sears. I hope they give him another chance soon.

I’d rather their regular 5 starters stay healthy and not miss a start but when they need another sport starter I’m sure Sears will be an option but I’d be surprised if he’s not sent back to AAA to start every 5th day.

He was sent back after the game.

I thought his arm slot release was unusual and seems like the batters had a hard time adjusting. Nice job by JC Penneys/Sears. His folks must be avid retail shoppers.

I expect Sears to be sent back but we know Severino probably has an innings limit since he really has not pitched the last few seasons. Cortes might have one too. So even barring injuries I could see them needing a 6th starter in the second half of the season.

I can see Clarke Schmidt fitting this #6 role. I think he's ready for a breakout season. Great curveball

I think the plan was for Schmidt to be stashed in AAA as the 6th stater with guys like German, Sears, Gil (now gone), Garcia and a few others as possible depth options.

I think the Plan on Schmidt may have changed when the Yanks lost several BP arms in the span of a few day. It may change again if Lo & Chappy come back looking like the 2021 versions of themselves or Schmidt may take on the 2021 Mike Ming role in this year's pen.

But for now it looks like Sears has staked a claim on getting another start when the big club needs one, it just may be a little while before that happens.

                            Yes, I agree.
