    2023 Billy McKinney Performance Thread

He was called up to replace Judge. McKinney made his MLB debut for the Yankees on March 30, 2018 and went 1-4. The next day, he ran into the wall catching a ball, got injured, and the Yankees traded him and Brandon Drury to Toronto for J.A. Happ. This is his third time in New York including playing for the Mets in 2021. https://www.baseball-reference.com/p...ckinbi01.shtml has his statistics. https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=mckinn002bil has his minor league statistics. He had a .899 OPS in 160 plate appearances for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Weber transferred to the 60 day IL to get him onto the 40 man roster.

I guess in the Yankee brain trust's mind Estevan Florial is Option #8. I feel even though he hasn't got a lot of playing time at the ML level, he still strikes out too much in AAA to be a "better" option.

McKinney tripled in the first game of today's doubleheader, and homered in the second game.

MLB included Florial as one of nine players who needs a new organization.

Well he has been far from a DFA candidate. I hope the pixie dust doesn't wear off and maybe he's a guy who just figured it out late. He was a former 1st round pick after all so maybe this isn't a mirage. Gonna need more than 55 PAs to convice me, but I have to admit it's been a very good 55 PAs so far.

I would say Calhoun would be a DFA candidate but he is on the 10 day IL. Franchy is also still on the 40 man.

Sadly, there is no shortage of DFA candidates on the 40 man roster.
