Another one in Texas. And they don't care.
As the sound of gunfire pierced through the parking lot of Allen Premium Outlets in Texas, panicked shoppers screamed and ducked behind rows of cars while others sprinted across the lot, a witness video shows.

A drunk man murdered five people, including two children. When the neighbors asked him to stop shooting (!!) late at night so their infant could sleep, he walked over to the house and shot five of them execution-style. Some children survived because their mothers covered them with their own bodies.

Just another day in the greatest country on earth! /s

    💔😡
Five people are dead after being shot in a home by a suspect armed with AR-15 style rifle, police say.

And it’s registered very much with right-wing commentators, because it showed that the real problem is trans people.

Five dead. Este pais es basura.
A 25-year-old bank employee opened fire at his workplace in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday morning and livestreamed the attack that left four dead and nine others injured, authorities said.

I skimmed an article the other day that said one of the biggest sources of illegally owned guns in the US is guns stolen from parked vehicles!

The numbers are insane. It kind of says it all about how bad the situation is.

I do believe there are a lot of people who are both pro-life but anti-gun, like my wife.

But I am definitely coming around to the opinion that if you're pro-gun you're not pro-life.

According to a couple of sources, they were biologically female but identified as a man. CNN says their gender identity is "unclear." Most sources I read are still using she/her. It's still quite unusual since males, specifically cis men, commit the vast majority of mass shootings. The cops wouldn't discuss a motive, but I'm curious if it's related to gender identity and being a former student at a conservative, religious school. Not that it really matters. Six people, including three children, are dead.

I'm not trans, but I experienced a whole lot of misogyny at a southern baptist high school. "It's not less than; it's just different," they say. BS. Don't tell me that I must be submissive and then try to tell me I'm still an equal in the same sentence. Between that and growing up in Foursquare and AG churches, patriarchal institutions within a deeply patriarchal society, the trauma is very real.

Anyway, I can imagine that being a motive of sorts, particularly if the murderer faced that bigotry at the school. Obviously none of it is motive for gunning down children. Kids have nothing to do with the way right-wing, evangelical Christianity views people who aren't cis-het men. This incident was also unusual in the sense that it's really rare for this type of evil to occur at private schools.

Three 9-year-old babies are gone. The adults were in their early sixties.

As Tex said, this is a choice. There truly is a large, loud, contingent of the US population who thinks that their right to own semiautomatic firearms is more important than children's lives. My heart aches like hell for these babies' parents.

The cynic in me can't help but think, "I guess this has nothing to do with 'taking god out of schools,' does it? Maybe it's the guns."

I wish like hell that I could leave. This country is never going to decide to step out of the trashcan and join civilization. It's never going to protect children the way "pro-life" people claim to do.

Police initially said the shooter appeared to be in her teens but later said she is a 28-year-old White woman who lives in Nashville. Police Chief John Drake said his initial findings showed she was at one point a student at the school. A vehicle was located nearby and gave clues as to the suspect’s identity, he added.

Yep. It doesn't have to be this way. This is a choice.
