Tim Jr. says it feels like a 4-day hangover and baby has the sniffles and serious crankiness.

EDIT: My grandbaby is going to the hospital for a baby COVID test.today. Poor baby.
So baby came back negative, despite constant close contact with positive father. Lots of head scratching, but Timmy has to isolate himself until March 1.

In other news, I got my second Moderna shot this morning. No adverse reaction other than a seriously sore arm. Max immunity in ten days! Looking forward to seeing grandbaby, depending on how things go down there.

I've seen it a lot of times where an entire household gets it except one person. It's weird.

I worked with a kid this past summer (actually fall). His entire family got covid - mother, father, two sisters. He never got it.
You wanna know what? You gotta problem with Luis Cessa, you gotta problem with me. And I suggest you let that one marinate

Yeah, I keep seeing that happen over and over. I don't know if it's testing errors or what but there always seems to be that one person that doesn't get it. We should be getting THAT person's DNA and studying it.

In randomized trials with 6 different COVID vaccines involving ~175000 persons: 0 hospitalizations for COVID in persons who received the recommended schedule of vaccine. That is ZERO.

                That’s great.
On a semi-related question what is the rate of severe adverse reaction to the vaccine? Are those stats readily available? I know all vaccines have some risk, what is the overall rate with this batch of vaccines and is one better than others in this respect or are all similar?

This is for the Pfizer vaccine.
During December 14–23, 2020, monitoring by the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System detected 21 cases of anaphylaxis after administration of a reported 1,893,360 first doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine (11.1 cases per million doses); 71% of these occurred within 15 minutes of vaccination.

21 out of almost 2 million? You're at much greater risk driving to the facility to get the shot than the shot itself.

As of March 1st I'll be eligible to receive the covid vaccine in CT. Let's see how long it takes for me to get an appointment.

I'm in the same group and cautiously optimistic. CT has done a really good job and they have allowed 3 weeks for this age group to register. I had a mixup with them last week that allowed me to talk to a number of administrators about what to expect and it sounds like they are ready.

Yeah those are great numbers. Sucks if you're one of the 21 but everything has some risk. 21/2M is indeed really good odds. I was mostly asking because those really bad reactions tend to get more press and can scare some folks from not getting the vaccine. I was curious as to what the order of magnitude was and it looks very, very small. Thanks

I would have thought, at your age, you would have been the very first in line when they first introduced the vaccine.

And 17 of those 21 had histories of anaphylaxis. Nobody died, because they got treatment right away.

Getting the vaccine is a no-brainer. (Sure, I am.)

A conspiracy theorist that I work with told me that over 11,000 people have died from the vaccine. They just aren't telling us.
